Barbara Dyke

Barbara Jean Dyke – 58 of Maynardville, passed away June 20, 2023 at Claiborne County Medical Center.

She is preceded in death by her father, Philip Aaron Smith, Sr. Barbara is survived by her mother, Margaret Ann Bryer, sister, Bonnie Romaine; and brothers, Philip “Buddy” Aaron Smith, Jr. and Robert Allen Smith.

Penny Shoffner

Penny Sue (Wyrick) Shoffner – age 58 of Knoxville, TN originally from Luttrell, TN was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 5:07 p.m. at North Knox Medical Center in Powell, TN. She was a mother, sister, friend, and a “mam” which was her favorite title. She was a member of Cedar Ford Baptist Church in Luttrell. Preceded in death by her special aunt and uncle Elbert and Ruby Wyrick, and her mother, Mary Sue Ogle.

Patten, Sally

Sally Marie Habermacher Patten was born March 30, 1949, in Houston, Texas, and died on June 18, 2023, at her home in Powder Springs, Tennessee after an extended illness. Before she and her husband moved to Powder Springs, she was an insurance underwriter for AIG Insurance in Dallas, Texas. After moving, she converted to the Catholic Church and was instrumental in the establishment of both Saint Teresa of Kolkata Church in Maynardville and Saint John Paul II Mission in Rutledge, she worked as the secretary and administrator for both churches at her own expense for the first 6 years.

Mary Hearn

Mary Hearn-age 91 of Maynardville passed away Friday morning, June 16, 2023 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith and a retired jeweler of Wal-Mart, Knoxville, Tennessee with 23 years of service. Preceded in death by husband, Charles Hearn, Jr. and parents, William and Maudie (Harneck) Jackson; one sister and four brothers.

Survivors: sons, Pete Demetroff, Rick Demetroff, William Demetroff, Scott Demetroff and wife, Velda. Nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. One brother and three sisters. Several nieces and nephews.

Angela "Angie" Pollard

Angela Renee Pollard – 58 of Jefferson City, formerly of Maynardville, passed away peacefully June 12, 2023. She was a member of Mt. Vale Church of God and was employed by Keurig Dr. Pepper. Angie loved everyone and loved to talk to everyone. She never met a stranger and all who met her were greeted with a big smile and a hug. Angie was loved by everyone who knew her and will be sorely missed.

Marty Robin Hensley

Marty Robin Hensley-age 46 of Luttrell was born June 7, 1977 in Knoxville and passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, at home. He had been in failing health due to diabetes, other health issues and was on dialysis for over two years. He was saved and the last church he went to was Jim Town Baptist Church, Luttrell. Preceded in death by his father, AJ Andrew Hensley, Jr.; brothers, Tony Hensley, Tim Blackey Hensley.

James E. Hurst

James E. Hurst-age 89 of Maynardville, born May 24, 1934, passed away Monday morning, June 12, 2023, at his home. He was a retired employee of Plasti-Line and a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, class of 1953. Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Zola (Cook) Hurst; wife of 61 years, Mary Nell (Smith) Hurst; son, Stephen Hurst; sisters, Sue Epperson, Marie McBee; brother, Paul Hurst.

Deborah Mason

Deborah (Inklebarger) Mason - 68 of Luttrell, passed away peacefully at home June 10, 2023. She was a faithful Christ follower and member of Corryton Church.

She is preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and JoAnn Inklebarger; brother, Kenny “Bo” Inklebarger. Debbie is survived by loving husband of 50 years, Gerald Mason; son, Jacob (Amanda) Mason; daughter, Julie Mason; son, Joseph (Jordan) Mason; grandchildren, Caleb, Christian, Jake, Nora, Carter and Ivy Jo.

Derana Lynn

Derana Kay Lynn- 47 of Rutledge, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 31, 2023. She was of the Christian faith. Derana was a daddy’s girl and enjoyed going fishing and hunting with him. She had a great love for animals and always had a puppy as a pet. Derana was friendly, had a sarcastic sense of humor, and was blunt and didn’t sugarcoat how she felt about anything. Despite the distance and their differences, she loved her children and family very much. She attended South College in Knoxville, where she earned her A.A.S. degree in accounting.

Robert "Bob" Miracle

Robert “Bob” Miracle-age 77 of Corryton passed away peacefully Thursday morning, June 8, 2023 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was a member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. Bob was a retired coal miner in the Brownies Creek area of Kentucky and a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Survivors: wife of 23 years, Sheila Walker Miracle; daughters, Pamela Miracle, Tammy (Rodney) France; son, Mitchell Miracle; special step-daughter and caregiver, Renee Smith; step-daughter, Sherry (Ron) Bolinger along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley Fontella (Greene) Monroe

Shirley Fontella (Greene) Monroe-age 82 of Washburn, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023. She was a member of Mt. Eager Baptist Church and a former employee of St. Mary’s Medical Center. Preceded in death by husband, Harl Monroe; parents, Rev. Lewis and Gladys (Capps) Greene; sister, Glenda Shelton; sister-in-law, Brenda Pratt; nephew by marriage, Dwayne Pratt.

Jarrett Lynn Knickerbocker

Jarrett Lynn Knickerbocker of Middlesboro, Kentucky passed away at the young age of 26 on Saturday June 3, 2023, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Jarett was a resident of Middlesboro Kentucky where he lived at the time of death. Jarrett’s life came to a tragic and unexpected end in a workplace accident in Oneida, Tennessee. Jarrett was born in Adrian, Michigan to JoAnn Jean Wilson and Phil Knickerbocker on July 25, 1997.

Carl Burnette

Carl Burnette-age 85 of Luttrell passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Willow Ridge Center. Carl was a member of Hubbs Grove Baptist Church, Maynardville. He was a loving husband, father and papaw. He was a kind and generous man who never met a stranger. He loved his family, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Papaw was his favorite role in life. He loved his community and was always willing to help his neighbors. He enjoyed friends dropping by and sitting out under the shade tree visiting.

Paul Scott Bradley

Paul Scott Bradley-age 64 of Sharps Chapel, formerly of Fort Meyers, Florida passed away Saturday afternoon, June 3, 2023, at UT Medical Center. He was a member of Fellowship Church in Knoxville. Preceded in death by parents, Paul Ronald and Esther Bradley; son, Robert John Brodeur.

Survivors: wife of 22 years, Deborah Bradley; children, Roger Brodeur, Robyn Bean, Scott Brodeur; Matthew Duncan; nine grandchildren; sisters, Jana Simons and husband, Hans, Terri Bradley along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Woodrow "Woody" Burkhart

Woodrow Allen “Woody” Burkhart-age 59 of Maynardville passed away Saturday morning, June 3, 2023 at home. He was born February 3, 1964 in Harlan, Kentucky. He was a member of Ailordale Baptist Church. He was a retired over the road truck driver. Preceded in death by mother, Nancy Blevins Burkhart; grandparents, Denvir and Bertha Burkhart, Baxter and Betty Blevins.

Patriccia Gail Capps

Patricia (Patty) Capps-age 54 of Washburn passed away Friday, June 2, 2023 at U. T. Medical Center with her family by her side. She was an employee of East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Knoxville. Preceded in death by mother, Connie Wallace; sister, Faye Martinez; mother-in-law, Patsy Capps.

She is survived by husband, Tim Capps; father, Paul Wallace; sister, Donna Brown; children, A.J. (Valerie) Bales; Chelsey (Cameron) McGinnis; granddaughters, Leah and Emery Bales. Father-in-law, Dale Capps. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Roberta Bruner

Roberta Christine Bruner – age 94 of Maynardville, went to be with her Heavenly Father, June 2, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Roberta retired from Standard Knitting Mill after 44 years. She will be greatly missed.

Larry Steve Shoffner

Larry Steve Shoffner-age 70 of Sharps Chapel passed away Wednesday morning, May 31, 2023 at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a retired employee of Union County Highway Department. Preceded in death by daughter, Gabrielle Shoffner; parents, Charlie and Edna (Beeler) Shoffner; brother, Tom Shoffner; sister, Wanda Brown.

Jeffery Allen Farris

Jeffery Allen Farris – age 60 of Andersonville, passed away suddenly at his home on May 29, 2023. He was a member of Hines Creek Missionary Church.

He is preceded in death by parents, Herman Farris and Geneva McNish. Jeffery is survived by wife, Martha Farris; brother, Steven Odel Farris of Knoxville; sister, Carolyn Irene White of Knoxville.

Raymond Lynn Sexton

Sexton, Raymond “Lynn” Sr. “Jamup” – age 80 of Maynardville, TN, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023. He was a Member of Alder Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

He is proceeded in death by father and mother, Troy and Lucille (Hunley) Sexton. He is survived by wife Patricia Acuff Sexton; sons and daughters-in-law Ray (Tricia), Casey (Sara), Anthony (Melanie) grandchildren Bradey, Brice, Daniel and Sydney; sister Norma Sharp; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
