Mary Gregory Mynatt

Mary Gregory Mynatt of Knoxville, passed away on September 28, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family. Mary was born January 22, 1948 to Dudley Grover Gregory and Norma Lucille Wendt Gregory in Sealy, Texas. After graduating from Royal High School in 1966 she went on a few years later to study accounting at Cooper’s Institute in Knoxville. Mary was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church and served as church secretary from 1981 – 1985. Upon moving to Texas in 1985 she worked for Sysco Foods in the accounting department and as a buyer in the dairy department until her retirement in 2005. After retirement, Mary spent her time sewing and quilting, of which she was very talented. In 1964, she met Hoke Lee Mynatt, Jr. and they were married June 2, 1966. They have two daughters, Laura Ann and Janet Lee.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Lucille Gregory; sisters, Rebecca Cummings and Lisa Wold. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Hoke Lee Mynatt, Jr.; daughters, Laura (Brian) Reynolds and Janet (Edward) McNamee all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Caleb Scott (Leeann) Reynolds, Reverend Mary Grace Reynolds and Bruce Toryn McNamee; great granddaughter, Kaylee Anna Reynolds; and sister, Judy Munoz of Brookshire, Texas. A special thank you to Tennova Hospice nurse, Cathy and to Cheryl Foster, Candi Pollard and Betty Goins for their help and comfort.

Family and friends will meet 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Trinity to proceed to Mynatt Cemetery in Luttrell for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service with Reverend Mary Grace Reynolds officiating. Following the service family and friends will return to Trinity for a reception.
