Roma Elwood Flatford

Roma Elwood Flatford-age 78 of Andersonville passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Oaks Chapel American Christian Church and was a retired carpenter. Preceded in death by wife, Mable (Hayes) Flatford; parents, William David and Edna (Rutherford) Flatford; brothers, Donnie Flatford, J. C. Flatford, Kenny Flatford, Glen Flatford, Alonzo Flatford; sisters, Agnes Healey, Sharon Marshall Cooper; step-son, Donald Norton.

Roy Williams

Roy Williams was born November 9, 1931, to Parents Jesse and Goldie Williams and Passed away April 7, 2025 at home in Harrisonville Missouri.

Roy proudly served in the United States Military, in both the Army and Airforce. He was stationed all around the World as well as the United States. However, after his service was done, he came right back to his beloved Tennessee Mountains.

He was preceded in death by Parents Jesse and Goldie Williams, Sister Thelma Bryant Beeler, and Brothers Carlos Williams and Vernon Williams.

James "Spikey" Carter Bolden, Jr.

James "Spikey" C. Bolden Jr - age 57 of Caryville passed away unexpectedly Thursday night, April 3rd, 2025. Preceded in death by his father, Carter Bolden; mother, Mary Beeler.

Surviving children, Suzanne, Amber, Dexter and Steven Bolden; many grandchildren;
surviving siblings, Stephanie, Renee & Tina; special parents, Bill Beeler, Robin Bolden; extended family and special friend Cindy Hayes.

Kurtiss Randolph Fletcher

Kurtiss Randolph Fletcher-age 58 of Knoxville went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 4, 2025 at his home. Kurt was a Christian of the Baptist faith. He was a kind soul who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need and never met a stranger. Preceded in death by father, Joseph Fletcher.

Gary Steven Atkins

Gary Steven Atkins-age 75 of Luttrell passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at his home after a brief battle with cancer. He was a member of New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and a retired automobile mechanic. Gary was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Preceded in death by parents, Newell Edward Atkins and Mildred (Bailey) Atkins Jones. Grandsons, Tyler Atkins and Matthew Atkins; nephew, Donnie Atkins.

Survivors: wife of 55 years, Phyllis Simmons Atkins; two sons, Christopher Atkins and Jason Atkins; granddaughter, Gracie Nankervis; brother, Gil Atkins; nephew, Nathan Atkins.

Jesse Oxendine

Jesse Oxendine-age 77 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the Willow Ridge Center, Maynardville. He loved the Lord and attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Maynardville. His favorite past-time was fishing on Cherokee Lake. Preceded in death by parents, Eddie Plummer and Ruby Hazel (Sands) Oxendine; brothers, R. G Oxendine, Rev. Walter Oxendine; sisters, Frances Inklebarger, Betty Lou Hayes, infant Betty Ruth Oxendine, Alice Nicely.

Walter Henderson Seymour

Walter Henderson Seymour-age 85 of Maynardville passed away Wednesday evening, April 2, 2025, at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a Christian of the Baptist faith. He served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. Walter was a kind and generous person who was a friend to all. He Loved Union County and was a well-known businessman in Maynardville. Walter served many years as a member of the Union County School Board and a third district Union County Commissioner. Walter was class president of the 1957 graduating class of Horace Maynard High School.

Carolyn Sue Brock

Carolyn Sue Brock-age 61 of Washburn, born December 11, 1963, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Kattie Sands; sisters, Betty Jordan, Janice Coffman.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Scotty Brock; sons, Eric Brock, Lee Brock and fiancé, Laura Lakins; brother, David Sands; sisters, Wanda (Ray) Seals, Mary Jones; special niece, Tina Nicley and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss her forever and a day.

Joyce Sharp Lee

Joyce Sharp Lee - age 80 of New Tazewell, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday March 27, 2025. She was a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Sharps Chapel. Joyce worked at Bushline and England Furniture for a number of years and retired from England's. She was a licensed beautician. Preceded in death by her parents, Pascal (Big Eye) Sharp and Alma (Sowder) Sharp; brothers, Ralph, James Claudie, Luna and Monteray Sharp; sisters, Lorene Collins, Dottie Williams, Bessie Jane Johnson and Hilda Braden; nephew, Mike Sharp.

Mary "Penny" Curnutt Wyrick

Mary “Penny” Curnutt Wyrick passed away on March 27, 2025. Born on December 23, 1945 and of the Baptist faith, Penny is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carl Wyrick. She is also survived by their daughter, Sherri (Bob) Prewitt, grandchildren Alex Prewitt, Mary (Austin) Richards, and Jacob Prewitt as well as great-grandchildren Luna and Aries. Penny was a precious cornerstone in her family - a keeper of the dates, addresses, photos, and social calendar and a firm reminder of their foundations. With Penny now in Heaven, the dogs and flowers there will be well-tended.

Ruby Delores Dyer

Dyer, Ruby Delores – age 84 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 27, 2025, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Luttrell. She is retired from Levi Strauss (Powell). Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dyer; daughter, Sherry Norton; granddaughter, Kristen Norton; son-in-law, Bobby Norton; mother, Ruby (Roby) Lawson Brown; father, J. Will Watson; brother, James Watson.

Jack Sharpe

Jack Sharpe-age 83 of Maynardville passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at his home. He was a member of Fellowship Christian Church and was a retired employee of Black and Decker, Knoxville. His life was filled with joy being able to hunt and fish with his grandsons, Zachary and Ryan; he also loved to watch his granddaughter, Olivia practice and play softball. He owned and operated the Black Fox Bait Shop for several years. Preceded in death by wife, Joyce (Gray) Sharpe; daughter, Karen Craig; parents, Issac and Pauline (Bailey) Sharpe; sister, Nell Capps.

Mary Jane Dyer

Mary Jane (Ailor) Dyer – 88 of Maynardville, born January 28, 1937, passed away March 24, 2025 at her home. She was a lifelong member of Ailor Dale Baptist Church where she was saved at a young age.

Elizabeth Michelle Hammonds – age 44 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Elizabeth loved to collect butterflies. She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Rouse.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Hammonds; brother, Sam Jones and wife Donna; sister, Linda Brooks and husband Brian; nephews, Bryson Jones, Brody Jones, Brian Brooks; niece, Savannah Brooks; brother-in-law, Freddie Hammonds; sister-in-law, Georgia Taylor; a host of friends.

Wanda Catherine Munsey – age 85 of Maynardville, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025. Wanda had many friends and loved Facebook and daily interactions with her Facebook friends.

Roy Ernest Berry – age 80 of Andersonville, passed peacefully surrounded by his family Sunday, March 16, 2025 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was a member of Community Baptist Church.

JorJeana Annette Gross

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of JorJeana Annette Gross-age 56 of Mascot, formerly Maynardville, on Friday, March 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 25, 1968, JorJeana was a member of Horace Maynard High School Class of 1986 who has shown their love and support throughout her illness and passing. She went on to become the first member of her family to attend the University of Tennessee, where she graduated in 1991.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Odell Coffey, Jr.; daughter, April Dawn Coffey; parents, Robert and Frances Rutherford; brothers, Bobby Rutherford, Eddie Rutherford; sister, Brenda Smith.

Ronald Lyle Winsor

Ronald Lyle Winsor-age 83 of Washburn passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Park West Medical Center. He was a loving husband, father, grand father and great grandfather. He loved to bass fish and watch Gunsmoke.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Winsor of Washburn; children, Ronald L. Winsor, Jr. of New York, Mark Allen Winsor of Washburn, Kimberly Marie Martin and husband Jesse of Maryville, Teresa Crawford of Washburn; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
