ZayLynn Rae howard

ZayLynn Rae Howard-age 8 days. On July 28, 2023 at 2:58 a.m., a precious baby girl came into the world. She is the daughter of Nayana Howard and Donnie Davis of Luttrell, Tennessee. Only eight days into the world and already loved by so many special people. She leaves behind her big sister, SkyLynn Davis and big brother, Dallas Davis. ZayLynn entered the arms of Jesus Saturday, August 5, 2023. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Johnny Davis.

Bruce Painter

Bruce Floyd Painter-age 66 of Maynardville passed away Thursday, July 31, 2023 at his home. He was born February 20, 1957 in Princeton, West Virginia and was a self-employed landscaper by trade. Proceeded in death by loving mother, Betty Painter; father, Douglas Painter and brother, Terry Painter.

Survived by Daughter, Crystal Hunley and Tyler Hunley grandsons, Jacob Painter, Caden Hunley and Levi Hunley and granddaughter, Jade Hunley, Sister, Denise Fisher and brother, Matt Painter. Very special and close friends who were more like family, Jim and Bobette Smith.

Cynthia Ann Ryan

Cynthia Ann (Thomas) Ryan-age 64 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at North Knoxville Medical Center. Ann was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Powell. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved the Lord and was a great representation of showing God’s love. Preceded in death by parents Helen and Vaughn Thomas, Brother Kyle Thomas, grandparents Zula and Charles Hatfield, grandparents Isaac and Stella Thomas.

Joyce D. (Beeler) Ott

Joyce D. (Beeler) Ott-age 69 of Maynardville passed away Monday evening, July 31, 2023, at Parkwest Medical Center. She was a member of Raccoon Valley Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her daughter, Katie Woods; parents, James and Lillie (Wolard) Beeler; brothers, Gary Beeler, Terry Beeler, Jerry Beeler; sister, Janice Fields.

Herschel Sharp

Herschel John Sharp – 94 of Maynardville, passed away July 30, 2023. He was a member of Haynes Flat Baptist Church in Claiborn County since 1942. Herschel was a 50-year member of J. C. Baker Lodge 720 in Maynardville, a 33 Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite in Knoxville, life member of American Legion Post 212 of Maynardville and past state commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Tennessee from 1998-1999. He had a great love for his family and country and served proudly and honorably in WWII.

Donald Wayne Gass

Donald Wayne Gass-age 73 of Washburn passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital, Powell. Don was a retired Paramedic from Jefferson County EMS, with 30 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and was associated with several area churches. Preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Frances Gass; brothers, Lynn and Karl Gass.

Carol Palmer MacDougall

Carol Palmer MacDougall- age 80 of Maynardville born November 4, 1942, passed away Thursday morning, July 27, 2023, at Willow Ridge Center. She was a member of Miller’s Chapel United Methodist Church. A graduate of Horace Maynard High School, class of 1960. Carol was a 58-year member of The Order of The Eastern Star and a current member of Clinch Valley Chapter OES, Clinton, Tn. She served as Worthy Matron at Blazing Star Chapter and was a Grand Representative for Tennessee to Mississippi. Preceded in death by her parents, Warren E Palmer and Jean (Lay) Palmer.

Johnny Ray Davis

Johnny Ray Davis “Daffy Duck”-age 55 of Luttrell born May 29, 1968 passed away suddenly Friday night, July 21, 2023 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was a member of Nave Hill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Donald Clay Davis and Edna Elizabeth (Nicley) Davis; brother, Donald Lee Davis; sisters, Janice Kay Cooke, Barbara Jean Harrell.

Marvin Munsey

Marvin Lynn Munsey-age 59 of Maynardville went to be with Jesus Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at home. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He is survived by parents, Melborn and Imogene Munsey; brother, Tim (Martha) Munsey; sister, Sharon (Wayne) Ward; daughter, Shannon Munsey; grandchildren, Gabriel Joyce, Mia and Addison Munsey. Several loving aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Best friend, Paul Graves. Marvin loved people and was always willing to help anyone. Marvin was a huge fan of Hank Williams, Jr.

Ray Edward Kitts

Ray Edward Kitts-age 82 of the Halls Community in Knoxville went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 17, 2023 at his home. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Halls. Preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Rachel (Kidwell) Kitts; brothers, Harvey, Bobby, Bill and Jake Kitts; step-sons, Tommy and Ralph Kidwell.

Hettie Marie Buckner Paul

Hettie Buckner Paul-age 81 of Maynardville passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at her home. She was of the Baptist Faith, saved and baptized at Warick Baptist Church at an early age. Preceded in death by parents, Johnny Delbert “Deb” Buckner and Myrtle Wolfenbarger Buckner; brothers, Claude Buckner, Glen Buckner, J.D. Buckner, Kenneth Buckner, Homer Buckner; sisters, Jessie Buckner Jones, Gertie Buckner Grubb, Alice Buckner, Francis Buckner Wilkerson.

William Cody Lynch

William “Cody” Lynch-age 28 of Washburn passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023. He was a member of Cedar Ford Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Buck Wood; grandparents, Randy and Dian Lynch, Johnny and Ruth Wood; aunt, Nina Bell Lynch; uncles, Darrell Lynch, Kevin Wood.

Survivors: parents, Tammie Lynch and AJ Wilkerson, brother, Mason Lynch; special aunt, Debbie Buckner Lynch and several cousins and friends.

John "Jack" Grau

John “Jack” Grau – age 76 of Sharps Chapel, passed away on July 10, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Jack and his wife Annie have been married for 54 years. They met in England in 1968 where Jack was stationed with the Air Force as a military police officer. Most of his youth was in Piqua, Ohio where he attended Piqua Catholic High School where he was active in football and basketball. Jack was employed by Sears Roebuck for over 40 years, holding many positions at various locations throughout the United States.

Dollie Sue Beeler

Dollie Sue Beeler-age 67 of Luttrell passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Home Faith Baptist Church. Dollie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family, crafts and flowers. Proceeded in death by her late husband, Johnnie Lee Beeler Sr.; parents, William and Edria Muncey; sister, Bonnie; brother, Charles.

Kathy Cox Jones

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. Kathy Lynn Cox Jones-age 73 of Maynardville, born May 15, 1950 to the late Porter and Roberta (Bailey) Cox departed this life Thursday, July 6, 2023 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Pennington Chapel Baptist Church. Kathy was the proud owner of Kathy’s Hair Styling and if you set in her chair, you automatically became her friend. Sadly, she closed in the 90’s but her legacy lived on. She opened her home to many and enjoyed your company; you never left hungry or unloved.

Gregory Corum, Sr.

Gregory Lynn Corum, Sr. went home to be with the Lord July 1, 2023. Greg was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by so many. He was blessed with so many special friends that he loved. Greg was an avid hunter and game fowl enthusiast.

Ricky Lee Payne, Sr.

Ricky Lee Payne, Sr.-age 64 of Corryton passed away Saturday morning July 1, 2023, at his home. He attended Clear Springs Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter. Ricky was a loving husband and father. Preceded in death by wife of 37 years, Camille Payne; parents, Leonard and Lula Payne; brothers, Charles Payne and wife Judy, James Payne and wife, Janice; nieces, Christy Payne, Melissa Willman, Connie Colwell; nephew, Donald Payne; father and mother-in-law, Mitchell and Kay Radon.

Forest Paul Bowman

Forest Paul Bowman (Paul) passed away on 30 June 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Visitation will be 12:00 -2:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow on Saturday, 8 July at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Home in Maynardville, Tennessee.
Paul was born to Ernest and Beulah Bowman on 25 February 1944. Paul worked for AT&T for 35 years, served as Union County Court Commissioner for eight years, served as mayor of Maynardville, and was on the Maynardville City Council for 16 years.
