Lester Carl Coram

Lester Carl Coram-age 93, two months shy of 94 of Knoxville passed away Friday afternoon, July 31, 2020 at his home. He was a member of Emory Valley Baptist Church and a retired employee of Roden Electric with 45 years of service. Born September 27, 1926 the son of the late Houk and Dora Chesney Coram; also preceded in death by brothers, Edgar, Sanders and Arte Coram; sisters, Virginia Cate and Alice McCoy. First wife, Darlene Bailey Coram.

Martha Lois Deyarmond

Martha Lois Deyarmond, 89, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on July 29, 2020 from a long illness.

Mom was a beloved mother, grandmother of eight, and great grandmother of thirteen. She is survived by her children: Allen Toole (Sue), Debbie Karnes (Donny), Jimmy Toole (Terry), and Sandra Huff (Jay).

Mom was preceded in death by her spouse Dallas Deyarmond, daughter Cindy Toole and great granddaughter Ambriel Karnes.

A private family ceremony will be held.

Mary Ann Tharpe

Mary Ann (Needham) Tharpe died peacefully at her home in Fountain City, a suburb of Knoxville, Tenn., on July 30, 2020. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease eight years ago, but did not suffer. She was able to remain in her home of 60+ years during that time thanks to the loving care of her niece, Robin Delph, Miranda Corum and her daughter LaKaya, and Teresa Kay Collins, who became her full time caregiver and companion four years ago. Teresa and her family adopted Mary Ann as one of their own and included her in their many gatherings.

Glenda Jean (Suffridge) Wilkes

Glenda Jean (Suffridge) Wilkes – age 73 formerly of Maynardville, was called home to be with the Lord on May 15, 2020. Jean was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was loved and admired by all that knew her. She will be greatly missed for her kind heart and sweet giggles. Jean enjoyed working on a variety of crafts and solving crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her two grandchildren that knew her as “Nina”.

George Paul Shoffner

George Paul Shoffner-age 70 of Knoxville, born and raised in Sharps Chapel passed away suddenly Saturday evening, July 25, 2020 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Taylor’s Grove Baptist Church and was a retired tree trimmer for the City of Maryville. He was a great man who loved to fish, work in his garden and climb and cut trees. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved to crack jokes and tell stories. He was always there for us when we needed him.

Otha Harold "Big Man" Washam

Otha Harold “Big Man” Washam-age 73 of New Market went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, July 26, 2020 at his home. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Knoxville. Harold was a retired truck driver. Preceded in death by parents, Jess Vernon and Elouise (Tipton) Washam; sister, Joyce Diaenne Washam.

Jan W. Mahaffey

Jan W. Mahaffey, 52, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020, in Knoxville, TN. Jan's struggles are over. She is now at peace in Heaven with her loved ones. Jan was born on April 27, 1968, in Knoxville. She attended Halls High School and Tennessee School of Beauty. Jan worked as a manicurist for several years in Knoxville. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Don E. Mahaffey and Reed T. Mahaffey, her brother, Eric Mahaffey; her grandparents, William A. and Theo R. Temple; Harvey and Ruth Whitson, her aunt, Carol Baumann and her cousin, Danny Crosland.

Billy Ray "Bill" Clay

Billy (Bill) Clay-age 71, of Washburn went to be with Lord peacefully at his home on the morning of July 25,2020. Bill was a member of Mt. Eager Baptist Church and was a former employee of Dempsters and a retired carpenter and loved doing carpentry. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Orena Clay; father-in-law, Hubert Davidson.

William "Bill" Atkins

William “Bill” Atkins, Sr.-age 82 of Luttrell passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at his home. He was a retired employee of Renfro Construction Company. Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Mossy (Chesney) Atkins; son, George Atkins; grandsons, Dustin Brown and Bobby Atkins; sister, Edith Hughes; brothers, Fred, Roy and Charlie Atkins.

Billy Wayne Smith

Billy Wayne Smith-age 58 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Saturday evening, July 4, 2020 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He had attended Pennington Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Sam Smith; mother, Dovie Cox Smith.
Survivors: Daughters, Billie Jane Bailey, Starlene Bailey and Crystal Bailey, all of Maynardville. Ten grandchildren. Sisters, Trish Grissom; Candice Crawford and husband, Rev. Stacy Crawford; brother, Sam Smith, all of Maynardville. Several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins along with a host of friends.

Linda Wolfenbarger Shipley

Linda (Wolfenbarger) Shipley – 72 of Maynardville, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 22, 2020. She was a member of Alder Springs Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by father, Horace Wolfenbarger; mother, Margaret Maples; sons, Tim Shipley and Joey Allen Shipley; and special friend, Nancy Woofter. Linda is survived by grandson, Zeke Shipley; and Rick (Donna) Hutchison who was like a son to her; brothers, Harvey (Sandy) Wolfenbarger and Jerry Wolfenbarger.

Della Mae Ray

Della Mae Ray-age 90 of Sharps Chapel passed away Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020 at her home. Preceded in death by her husband, George Ray; daughter, Rebecca Weaver; son, Barry Ray; daughter-in-law, Twila Miller; parents, Bob and Gladys Horn and all of her siblings.

Survivors: sons, Butch Miller and Kevin Ray; daughters, Jennifer Justice, Roberta Ray and Sylvia Chambless; son-in-law, James “Pick” Weaver. 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews along with a host of friends.

Vanessa Marie Gibson

Vanessa Marie Thomas Gibson, age 38 of Knoxville, passed away on July 20, 2020. She was a devoted and loving mother to her children. Preceded in death by her mother Joyce Faye Thomas, maternal grandparents James and Lula Gibson, paternal grandparents John and Ollie Thomas.

Anthony Eugene Corum

Anthony Eugene Corum age 63 of Powell, went home to be with Jesus 10:00 pm Monday, July 20, 2020 at North Knox Medical Center. He had sung for the Lord since 1986 all around East Tennessee. He was an avid Alabama Fan, “Roll Tide”. Preceded in death by parents; Amos and Christine Corum. Special Aunt Margaret Woodward. Survivors; wife of 43 years, Brenda C. Corum. Daughter and son in law; Tammi and Steve Lowe. Siblings; Vernon (Ina) Corum, Shirley (Larry) Crisp, Bob (Toma) Corum, Esta (Johnny) Quillen, Rick (Loretta) Corum and Amos (Vickey) Corum.

Rev. Billy Mynatt Sr.

Rev. Billy R Mynatt, Sr passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 21, 2020 while in hospice care. Billy was born on November 13, 1931 in Knoxville, TN to parents, Joseph Carl Mynatt and Edna Irene (Lane) Mynatt. Billy graduated from Stair Technical High School in Knoxville and attended Carson Newman College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as pastor and ministerial staff member of eight churches in the Knoxville area.

Pauline Cassady Caton

Pauline C. Caton, age 85, of Knoxville, was called home to be with the Lord July 19, 2020. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City for over 15 years and a longtime employee of KCDC. Pauline was preceded in death by infant son, Stevie, parents, Lee T. & Arlena Cassady, brother, Wayne Cassady, and brother-in-law, Charlie Mink, Sr. Survivors include sisters, Clara Mink and Joan Davis, as well as several generations of nieces and nephews.
