Norman J. Brantley-age 72 of Sharps Chapel passed away Friday evening, July 23, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital at Tennova North surrounded by loved ones. Norman was born March 26. 1949 in Sharps Chapel to Roy and Willie (White) Brantley. Norman proudly served his country in the Viet Nam War and was a U. S. Army Veteran. Norman was strong, kind, loving and supportive father and husband. His Knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family and he was also a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Bill Loy – age 90 of Maynardville, beloved husband and father, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 22, 2021. He was saved as a young man and was a member of Alder Springs Baptist Church. Bill graduated Horace Maynard High School then joined the Army but was honorably discharged due to a medical condition. He worked for his father-in-law, Kermit Maples at Maples Chevrolet in Harriman for several years. He then worked for JFG Coffee Co. and retired from Roddy Mfg. Co. (Coca-Cola) after 27 years of service.

Jay Dyke-age 92 of Sharps Chapel went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church and a retired Teamster with T.V.A. He was the son of the late James and Clatis (Welch) Dyke; also preceded in death by wife, Jewell Sharp Dyke; son, Larry Dyke; daughters, Pamela Dyke Collins, Debra Dyke; grandson, Jason Collins and Jimmy Brantley; great-grandson, Dillon Collins brothers and sisters, Robert, Carl, Lonnie, Mary, Fern and Maggie.

Matthew Herbert Nicley-age 41 of Washburn passed away suddenly Saturday, July 17, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Powder Springs Missionary Baptist Church and an employee of Hurst Trailers. Preceded in death by brother, Brad Nicley; grandparents, Fred and Maurine Nicley; Inez Merritt; special great-aunt, Nola “Auntie” Merritt.

Ellen Christine Vollmer-age 55 of Maynardville, born November 16, 1965 in Cincinnati, Ohio passed away suddenly Monday, July 19, 2021 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She had been a resident of Willow Ridge Center in Maynardville for the past 8 years and was of the Catholic faith.
Ellen is survived by a sister, Fran Graves and a brother, David Vollmer, both of Ohio.

Martha Jo Hill-age 73 of Washburn passed away Saturday evening, July 17, 2021 at Willow Ridge Center after a lengthy illness. She attended Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by father, Emerson Starnes; grandparents, Clayton and Rosie Bailey.

Jimmy Ryan Delph – age 44 of Maynardville, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 15, 2021.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond Schmidt and Gracie M. Delph. Ryan is survived by his mother, Darlene (Alan) Mayes; children, Hunter and Eli Delph; grandmother, Nancy Schmidt; sister, Shelly (Gary) Winans; and father, Jimmy (Barbara) Delph.

Joyce “Jo” Elaine Roberts, born September 21, 1947 passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 surrounded by family and friends.

Dennis Briscoe Woods-age 74 of Sharps Chapel born June 19, 1943 passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at his home among his loved ones. He is preceded in death by wife, Mary Ann Woods; parents, Briscoe and Thelma Woods; siblings, Ginger Woods Faw; Janice Woods Simmons, Jackie Woods and Bobby Woods.

Nancy Faye Cook-age 80 of Maynardville, born February 9, 1941 passed away Wednesday July 14, 2021 at her home following a long illness. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Faye was a retired employee of Palm Beach following which she ran her own store (Carlyle’s) for 12 years and worked at Kay’s Market for 14 years. She was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1959. Preceded in death by husband, Carlyle Austin Cook; parents, Raymond Hale Tyree and Helen Ruth Weaver; brother, Doyle Edward Tyree.

Billy Ray Shoffner-age 81 of Sharps Chapel, born June 25, 1940 passed away Tuesday morning, July 13, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Highland Missionary Baptist Church. He was the son of the late John D. and Gracie (Shelby) Shoffner. Also preceded in death by wife of 59 years, Glenetta Odell Shoffner; brothers, Doyle Shoffner, Jackie Lee Shoffner; sisters, Pearlie Mona Shoffner and Bonnie Mabe Massengill.

Patricia Ann “Patty” Williams-age 54 of New Tazewell went to be with her Lord and Saviour Friday, July 9, 2021 at Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center, Nashville. She was a member of Leatherwood Baptist Church. Patty loved everyone and to know her was to love her.

Earl Samuel Savage Sr., age 77 of Maynardville passed away on Monday, July 5th, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Washburn. He was saved during a revival in March of 1959 at Warwick’s Chapel Baptist Church held by Loy Shelton and Jess Qualls. Preceded in death by loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Whitson Savage; parents: George Harvey & Dollie Savage. Brothers: George Allen Savage & Johnny C. Savage. Sisters: Gladys (Sis) Scott, Helen Jones, and Ellen Savage. Father and mother in law: Judge Ernest and Elsie Whitson.

Infant Molly Rebekah Hale-newborn daughter of Matt and Lindsey Hale went to her Creator and Saviour Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. “We are heartbroken to not have you here with us but our comfort is knowing we can be with you for eternity because of Jesus Christ. We love you so much sweet Molly!” Molly is also survived by siblings, Emma Viteri, Lily Hale, John Hale and Addy Hale; grandparents, Ed and Susan Hale; Ron Brown, Debbie Brown. Several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Garland Daniel Sanders – 82 of Maynardville, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021. He attended First Baptist Church of Andersonville.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Catherine Sanders; and parents, Garland Gurnade Sanders and Clersie Arlene Sanders. Garland is survived by sons, Darren (Crystal), David and Daniel Sanders; grandchild, Devinne Sanders; and sisters, Sue Sanders, Glenda James and Norma Walsh.

Jeffrey Lynn Hundley – age 63, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 3, 2021. Jeff was born on April 12, 1958 and was a lifelong resident of Powder Springs. He loved his family and cattle. Most days he could be found on his tractor in a hay field.

Taylor LeAnn Unwin-age 28 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, June 29, 2021. Preceded in death by father, Michael Emerson; grandparents, Roger and Cheryl Unwin.

Survivors: Two sons, Gabriel and Michael; mother, Tammi Unwin of Maynardville; two brothers, Jacob Emerson of Knoxville; James Hash of Maynardville; Aunt and uncle, Michelle and Daniel Harmon of Powell; uncle, Jerry Unwin and Connie Weaver of Maynardville. Several cousins, other relatives along with a host of friends.

Douglas Joe “Doug” Kitts-age 51 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 2, 2021 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. He was saved at an early age and was a member of Hubbs Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1988.
