Carole Lynne Sheppard

Carole Lynne Sheppard, age 76, of Knoxville, TN passed away Sunday, August 13th, 2017. She was a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, worked for 43 years as a registered nurse until her retirement in 2007, and was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church. Music was a big part of her life. As a teenager and through her adult years, she loved playing the piano and organ for her church. She learned to play after only a few months of lessons.

Lillian "Speck" Beeler

Lillian “Speck” Beeler, age 81 of Washburn went to her heavenly home on August 17, 2017. She is preceded in death by husband Bill Beeler; parents Herbert and Naomi Majors; sister Barbara Beeler; and brothers R. J. Majors and Donald Majors. Lillian is survived by daughters, Terry Ritter (Kevin) and Marsha Hyde; sister Kaye Cooke; grandchildren Will Ritter, Jason Ritter and Simon Hyde; and 3 great-granddaughters. A special thanks to the caregivers at Smoky Mountain Hospice, niece Cindy McGinnis and Bonnell Wolfenbarger.

Glenda S. Raby

Glenda S. Raby, age 67, of Knoxville passed away August 18, 2017. She is preceded in death by husband Fred Raby; parents Henry and Rothada Rucker; brother Allen Rucker and sister Joyce Wolfenbarger. Glenda is survived by daughter, Robin Conner; son Gerald R. Satterfield, Jr.

Jeanette Keck

Jeanette Keck-age 76 of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord, Thursday evening, August 17, 2017 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. She is a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Jeanette was a very talented pianist and had played for numerous gospel groups and churches in the area. She also appeared on the Mull’s Singing Convention. Preceded in death by mother, Maranda Munsey; aunts, Bracey Large and Zola Needham.

Donald Ray Longmire

Donald Ray Longmire, age 82, of Knoxville passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, August 18, 2017. He was a career employee of Dempster Brothers working in the engineering department and later as a sales consultant. Following his career with Dempster Brothers, he was employed with The Heil Company as a sales consultant until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by parents Kyle and Glynn Longmire and father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Edith Norton.

Marian Loy

Marian Parker Loy, age 84, of Maryville, TN, formerly of Union County, passed away on Thursday, August 17th, 2017. She worked at Standard Knitting Mill for 20 years and attended Six Mile Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband William Loy and sister Evelyn Parker Dishmon. She is survived by sister Bobbie Robbins, and husband Bill, 3 nephews, 1 great-nephew, 1 great-great nephew, and extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel.

Troy Savage

Troy Lee Savage, 81, of Knoxville entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. He was surrounded by his family and friends during his last hours. Troy was born June 14, 1936 and lived a full active life until his recent and sudden diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). While his illness was but an abrupt short battle, his life with Jesus is now everlasting.

Betty Lou Johnson

Betty Lou Johnson, 76, formerly of Chicago, passed away August 16, 2017. She was a member of Central View Baptist Church where she loved to worship. She was a loving, caring, and compassionate mother and friend with a selfless heart of gold. She was an animal lover who enjoyed bird watching. Preceded in death by parents Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson; brothers Johnny, Paul, and Delbert Johnson; sisters Mary Johnson and Jean Hatmaker. Survived by son Howard Hixson, daughter Monica Gordon, and son David Johnson; grandchildren Ryan and Emily Hixson; sister Alice (Roy) Kruse.

Gloria Helms Boruff

Gloria Saundra Helms Boruff, age 84 of Knoxville, went to be with her heavenly father Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Park West Hospital. Saundra was born on July 18, 1933. She was a long-time member of Rocky Dale Primitive Baptist Church and retired from Standard Knitting Mills and Levis. Preceded in death by her parents, John A. Helms and Esta M. Foust Helms, husband of 57 years James E. Boruff, son Ronnie Edward Boruff, brother Kenneth Tys Helms, sister Savanna Helms Reed.

Walter "Joe" Marshall

Walter "Joe" Marshall, of Louisville, Tennessee, a long-time Fountain City resident, died on August 15th, 2017 at 7:58 pm, after a struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. His parents, the late Walter and Edna Galbraith Marshall, founded Hickory Star Resort on Norris Lake, where he lived in the summers growing up. Joe was a 22-year Air Force veteran, owner of Norwood Auto Sales in Knoxville, founder of Top Wrench Competition, and board member of True Purpose Ministries. Joe was and is beloved by all who knew him, and we celebrate his home-going by honoring his life and legacy.

June Eilene Bailey

June Eilene Bailey-age 89 of Washburn passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was a member of Pennington Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by daughter, Georgetta; parents, Arvilee and Vesta Clarkson; brother, Virgil Clarkson; sisters, Frances Hopson and Harriett Gray.

Survivor by husband of 72 years, Ralph; son and daughter-in-law, Coy and Sharon Bailey.

Jimmy Eugene Lowery

Jimmy Eugene Lowery, age 48, of Knoxville, TN went to go fishing with the Lord and his Momma on August 13th, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith, and avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by mother Connie Lowery, and grandparents James and Margie Lowery and Joe and Opal Morgan. He is survived by his father Jimmie Lowery, brother Kevin Lowery, aunt and uncle Brenda and Bobby Foland, special friends Lee Marsh, Joe Helton, and Ronnie LaRue, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Chad Jason Powell

With a heavy heart, we say goodbye to Chad Jason Powell a loving father, son, brother and uncle. Chad, age 48, lost a hard-fought battle with cancer Saturday, August 12. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and an employee of Quality Steel. Chad was part of the 1986 Halls High School State Championship football team. #75 will live on in our hearts forever!

Agnes Butler Hill

Agnes Butler Hill of Knoxville passed away quietly on Friday August 11, 2017. She was a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church in Corryton. She loved time spent with family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her senior group who loved to dance. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawson and Nora Henry Butler; husband Burney L. Hill; sister, Viva Mae Cooper; and brother Theodore “Cowboy” Butler.

Paul Ray Smith

Paul Ray Smith, age 80, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, August 11th at his home in Fountain City. He was born March 1, 1937 to Carl and Nellie Smith in the community of Marbledale.
Former member of Lonsdale United Methodist. Retired from the Knox Co. School system at Byington-Solway.

Thomas Arthur Hodge

Thomas Arthur Hodge, age 77 of Knoxville died suddenly on August 9, 2017. He was an Eagle Scout, a 1958 graduate of Central High School, and a graduate of The University of Tennessee and the UT College of Law. He was currently an attorney with Baker Donelson Law Firm. He was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Volunteer Ministry Center for 2017, President of Belmont West HOA, and President of Christian Homebuilders Class at Fountain City United Methodist Church where he enjoyed teaching classes. He was also an avid Vol fan.

Stacie Lee Lowery

Stacie Lee Lowery, age 34, of Knoxville, TN passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017. She was preceded in death by father Darrell Lowery, brother Chris Jones, grandparents Ola Mae and Raymond Acuff and Jim and Norman Lowery, and aunt Teresa Lowery. She is survived by mother Tina Acuff Jones, brother Shane Lowery, uncles Rick (Ann) Acuff and Luther Perry, special aunts Karen Hurst and RaNonda Sherrod, sister Jennifer Giganti, special cousin Ann Lajoy, special friend Michael Gibson, and numerous extended family and friends.

Dorothy Breeden Lett

Dorothy Breeden Lett, age 75, of Clinton, passed away at home surrounded by her family on August 10, 2017. Dorothy was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was retired from Hoskins Drug Store. Dorothy is preceded in death by parents U.L. and Frances Breeden; brothers, William “Bill” Breeden (Evelyn), Tommy Breeden and Richard Breeden; sisters, Gerry Clark (James H.), Zelma Hill and Betty Ann Breeden; brother-in-law Robert E. Clark.

Johnnie Ault Bentley

Johnnie Ault Bentley, 57 of Knoxville passed away quietly at her home on Thursday, August 10, 2017. She was born on February 3, 1960 in Knoxville to the late John Ault and Nellie Ruth Ault Lay. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Johnnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Johnnie is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Patricia Lay and Ann Varner. Survived by daughters, Rhonda (David) Greene and Amanda Bentley; grandchildren, Jacob, Haley and Addison; 5 brothers, 2 sisters and companion Mickey Braden.
