Joy Tindell

Joy Weaver Tindell, age 78 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord September 1, 2017. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a loving pastor’s wife and mother. Preceded in death by husband of 60 years Curtis Tindell; parents Matt and Grace Weaver; sister Agnes Williamson.

Judson George

Judson G. George, age 62, of Knoxville passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2017.
Judson was born January 11, 1955 to Bill and Phyllis George. He graduated in 1977 from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration. He was the owner of George’s Building Supply from 1984-1999, and worked for Schaad, Witt and 84 Lumber.

Betty Lou Underwood

Betty Lou Underwood, age 72, of Knoxville went to be with her heavenly Father on August 27, 2017. She was retired from TMSI after many years of service. Betty is preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Walter and Rosie Gann and brother, Frank Gann. She is survived by daughter, Debra Collins and husband Jason; grandchildren, Erica Wilson and fiancé Jason Dunn, Kandace Wilson, Skylar Wilson, Nicholas Collins; great-grandchild, Rhett Evans; sister, Faye Kelly and husband Frank; and brother, Larry Gann.

Ruth Hutchison

Ruth Hutchison passed away August 30, 2017 at the age of 90. She was born July 19, 1927 in Union County, TN., to Leroy and Ruby (Butcher) Raley. Ruth was a long time member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Her survivors include: children; Jim Hutchison (Amy Ryder), Bob Hutchison (Karen), Vickie Wilhite (Chuck), and Gail Anderson (Mike) all of Knoxville, TN; Her grandchildren; Trever Hutchison (Liza), Chad Hutchison (Jennifer), Joy Geoghagan (Jeff), Tess Frear (Derek), Brad Hutchison (Lindsey), Susan Wilhite, Allison Ardouin (Erick), Seth Anderson (Tara Bowlin), Samuel Anderson.

Walter G. Seymour

Walter G. Seymour passed away peacefully at home after several months of declining health on August 31, at age 91. Born in Union County and having lost both parents by age 13 he moved to North Knoxville to live with his older sister. At age 17 he left these Tennessee Hills for the first time taking a train ride to San Diego to join the USN. After training he was on the christening crew of the USS Kyne. In 1944, he sailed to the South Pacific to serve in our war effort as a naval reserve. He also served in Greencove Springs Florida during the Korean Conflict.

Clarence E. "Snowball" Brooks

Clarence Edward “Snowball” Brooks-age 81 of Luttrell passed away Saturday evening, August 26, 2017 at Beverly Park Place. Preceded in death by son, Eddie Brooks; father, Jim Brooks; mother and step-father, Pearl and Jack Hodge; brother, Gene Brooks.
Survivors: wife, Melissa Brooks; son, Jason Brooks, both of the home; son, James Brooks; two daughters, Judy and Dixie. Several grandchildren. Brothers, Johnny Brooks of Indiana; Jackie Hodge, Maynardville; sister, Ruby Woolard, Tazewell. Several other relatives and friends.

Paula B. Johnson

Paula Bernice Johnson 8/3/32- went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 25, 2017. She was a member of Walridge Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Kyle Johnson and a son David Allen Johnson. She is survived by one sister Winona Lester. Linda Quinn

Linda Louise Marek Quinn, a constant learner, wonderful teacher, and a selfless mother passed away at 73, on August 24, 2017. She is preceded in death by parents Clarence Thomas and Emma Troutman Marek, husband, Allen O’Neal Quinn, and son, Matthew Marek Quinn. She loved to study and learn, earning a PhD and two Master’s Degrees from the University of Tennessee, and two Bachelor’s Degrees from Indiana University. Linda worked as a college professor at Knoxville College and Maryville College, as well as a teacher and a counselor in the Knox County School System.

Charles Jones

Charles E. “Red” Jones, born March 30, 1938, passed away August 26, 2017. He honorably served in the Army 11th Airborne Division from July 1955 until July 3, 1958. He married his loving wife of 55 years, Janice Sue Jones on December 23, 1958 and remained so until her death, on November 14, 2013. He retired from Rohm and Haas as a Machinist/Millwright after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by wife Janice Sue Jones; parents Boyd C. Jones and Clema Miller Jones. Survived by sons, Charles R. “Rusty” Jones and Randel E. Summers and wife Patricia A. Summers; grandchildren Andrea P.

Nellie "Reece' Free

Nellie Dorethea (Reece) Free, age 64, of Powder Springs, formerly of Knoxville, went home to her Heavenly Father, Friday August 25, 2017, after a five month battle with cancer. She was an active member of United Missionary Baptist Church for 19 years. She was a true servant of the Lord. She had a very kind, loving, caring, and giving soul. She never met a stranger and, even in hard times, she always had a smile. She saw the good in everyone and looked past their faults. She gave to everyone she knew and loved them as her own.

Gary Eugene Ramsey

Gary Eugene Ramsey passed away suddenly August 18, 2017. Preceded in death by parents Dave and Bernice Ramsey; brothers David, Wayne, Glen, and Eddie Ramsey; sister Dale Ward; soul mate Teresa Lowery. Survived by sisters Sheila Wallace and Judy Houser; nieces Tasha, Toni, Brittany, Stephanie, and Dataja; nephews Tyzec, Delmontre, and Michael; stepdaughter Amanda Joy; sister-in-law Lisa Blue; many friends and his dog Tinker. Chardai “Nikki” Nicole McGown – age 31of Knoxville, went into the arms of the Lord, Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Nikki was a fresh burst of sunshine in the lives she touched and could add a sparkle of joy to anyone she knew or met. She loved life and never slowed down. Recently Nikki accepted the Lord into her life and became a member of Honey Rock Victorious Church.

Wilma Jean Sartin

Wilma Jean Sartin-age 72 of Maynardville, born October 9 1944 went home to be with Jesus Thursday afternoon, August 24, 2017 at NHC Healthcare. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Earnest and Imogene Taylor.
Survivors: husband, Phillip Sartin; sons, Jim and Ben; sisters, Betty Sartin, Ruth Lindsey; brother, Charlie Taylor. Special little friend, Ayden Hamilton. Several nieces and nephews.

Irene Muncey Sweet-age 63 of Maynardville passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at U. T. Medical Center. She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Rob and Birdie Muncey; brothers, Larry Muncey, Doyle Wayne Muncey, Austin (Dock) Muncey, Herbert (Bill) Muncey, Willis Muncey, R. J. Ronald "Ronnie" Ballinger

Ronald “Ronnie” Ballinger, age 45 of Knoxville passed away August 20, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by mother Eva Ballinger and grandmother Annie Raby. Survivors include siblings Jackie Fridley (Teresa), David Fridley (Janice), LeeAnn Anderson (Dale); nieces and nephews Duane and Ava Anderson, Jaqueline and Christian Fridley. Andrew Joseph “Joe” Brummitt-age 50 of Tazewell, formerly of Maynardville passed away suddenly Sunday morning, August 20, 2017 at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the Church of Christ. Preceded in death by parents, James William and Marjorie Brummitt; niece, Erin Edelen.

Jimmie E. Haggard

Jimmie Edward Haggard-age 70 of Luttrell gained his heavenly wings Saturday morning, August 19, 2017. He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. Jimmie served six years in the United States Navy. He had a great love for his country and a passion for the great outdoors. Anyone who knew Jimmie knew he loved to hunt, fish and being outside. He didn’t know a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand when able. Jimmie loved his wife, children and grandchildren unconditionally.
