Earl Samuel Savage Sr., age 77 of Maynardville passed away on Monday, July 5th, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Washburn. He was saved during a revival in March of 1959 at Warwick’s Chapel Baptist Church held by Loy Shelton and Jess Qualls. Preceded in death by loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Whitson Savage; parents: George Harvey & Dollie Savage. Brothers: George Allen Savage & Johnny C. Savage. Sisters: Gladys (Sis) Scott, Helen Jones, and Ellen Savage. Father and mother in law: Judge Ernest and Elsie Whitson.
Infant Molly Rebekah Hale-newborn daughter of Matt and Lindsey Hale went to her Creator and Saviour Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. “We are heartbroken to not have you here with us but our comfort is knowing we can be with you for eternity because of Jesus Christ. We love you so much sweet Molly!” Molly is also survived by siblings, Emma Viteri, Lily Hale, John Hale and Addy Hale; grandparents, Ed and Susan Hale; Ron Brown, Debbie Brown. Several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Garland Daniel Sanders – 82 of Maynardville, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021. He attended First Baptist Church of Andersonville.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Catherine Sanders; and parents, Garland Gurnade Sanders and Clersie Arlene Sanders. Garland is survived by sons, Darren (Crystal), David and Daniel Sanders; grandchild, Devinne Sanders; and sisters, Sue Sanders, Glenda James and Norma Walsh.
Jeffrey Lynn Hundley – age 63, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 3, 2021. Jeff was born on April 12, 1958 and was a lifelong resident of Powder Springs. He loved his family and cattle. Most days he could be found on his tractor in a hay field.
Taylor LeAnn Unwin-age 28 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, June 29, 2021. Preceded in death by father, Michael Emerson; grandparents, Roger and Cheryl Unwin.
Survivors: Two sons, Gabriel and Michael; mother, Tammi Unwin of Maynardville; two brothers, Jacob Emerson of Knoxville; James Hash of Maynardville; Aunt and uncle, Michelle and Daniel Harmon of Powell; uncle, Jerry Unwin and Connie Weaver of Maynardville. Several cousins, other relatives along with a host of friends.
Douglas Joe “Doug” Kitts-age 51 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 2, 2021 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. He was saved at an early age and was a member of Hubbs Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1988.
Preceded in death by mother, Patricia Dykes Kitts; grandparents, Gray and Edith (Raley) Kitts; Robert and Lerttie (Longmire) Dykes; special uncle, John D. Dykes.
Gracie L. (Nicely) Chesney-age 89 of Washburn passed away Friday morning, July 2, 2021 at Ridgeview Terrace in Rutledge. She was a member of Nave Hill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, David Chesney; parents, Barton and Lizzie (Bailey) Nicely; sisters, Beatrice Nicely, Trula Nicely and Mary Nicely.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Karen Chesney; two grandchildren, Brad Chesney and Chad Chesney; two great-grandchildren, Solomon Chesney and Nola Chesney. A host of other relatives and friends.
Tommy Atkins-age 72 of Luttrell passed away suddenly Wednesday evening, June 30, 2021 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by parents, J. T. and Verdia Atkins.
Survivors: best friend and companion, Andra Atkins; daughters, Amanda (Michael) Coffman; Michelle Atkins; six grandchildren, Taylor, John Michael, Austin, Trinady, Cloie and Braden. Brother, David Atkins and wife, Vickie; sisters, Norma Fay Corum, Trish Bailey. Several nieces and nephews.
Jaelyn Ryanna Collins – age 18 of Maynardville, passed away tragically Sunday, June 27, 2021, from an automobile accident.
Shirley Alsip-age 78 of Luttrell passed away Friday morning, June 25, 2021 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She was a member of Cedar Ford Baptist Church. Preceded in death by son, Jason Buckner in 1990.
Survivors: husband of 27 years, Alford Alsip; daughter, Tonya Walker; one granddaughter, Victoria Walker; sisters, Mary Tarr and husband, Junior; Jane Perry; niece, Debbie Hensley and husband, Billy.

Laura Kaye O’Donnell-age 72 of Heiskell passed away Wednesday evening, June 23, 2021. She was preceded in death by father, Charles Kaiser; mother, Benna Frank VanVuuren; daughter, Amy Kathleen Bridget O’Donnell.
Survivors: son, James O’Donnell and wife, Sheila; daughters, Lisa O’Donnell; Karen Rice and husband, Mark; five grandchildren, Victoria Parker, Connor Mize, Jada Mize, Zed Rice, Kathleen Rice; two great-grandchildren. Brothers, Stephen VanVuuren and wife, Marie; Michael VanVuuren. Laura will be greatly missed by her four cats.
Teresa Lynn (Young) Kitts – age 50 of Maynardville passed away June 23, 2021 at North Knox Medical Center.
Robert Sterling “Bob” Kitts-age 62 of Knoxville, born September 1, 1958 spread his wings and headed for home Wednesday, June 16, 2021 to join his Heavenly family. Bob was of the Christian faith and knew were he was going. A devout family man always lending a helping hand and a true devoted rock to many. Wonderful father, exceptional brother and personal caregiver to both his parents when they needed him most. Bob loved and played music, enjoyed NASCAR, sports and working on cars. Bob made his living working on cars as an auto body technician his entire life and worked on the side.
Edwin Charles Young passed away at his home on June 15, 2021 surrounded by his wife of 65 years Julia Lee Collier Young, his son Steven Craig Young from Corryton, Tn and his daughter Robbi Sue Young from Amelia, Oh. He was born in Memphis, TN to Nell and Al Young of Paducah, Ky on January 18, 1933. He attended George Rogers Clark Elementary, Brazelton Junior High and Augusta Tilghman High in Paducah. He transferred to the University of Kentucky in 1952. He attended UK for a year and ½ before being drafted.
Robert ¨Bobby” Lee Cox - age 61 of Maynardville, was born on November 21st, 1959 and passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home in Maynardville on Monday, June 14th, 2021. A man of faith, Bobby gave his life to God at age 19, and was an ordained minister and member of Bethel Baptist Church. He has now found everlasting peace and is rejoicing with the Lord.
Bradley Eugene Warwick, age 42, of Blaine passed away suddenly at his home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June the 10th. He was a member of Little Valley Baptist Church. Preceded in death grandfather/grandmother Daniel and Loretta Warwick, grandfather/grandmother Eugene and Eula Faye Ramsey, brother Jason Warwick, Uncle/aunt Grady and Polly Warwick, and cousin Kimberly Danielle Warwick.
Brandon Todd Johnson – 34 of Maynardville, went to be with the Lord and his father, Wayne Johnson on Friday, June 11, 2021. He was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Johnson; and grandparents, Louis and Winnie Hall. Brandon is survived by his sons, Thomas, Christopher and Jonathan Johnson; mother and stepfather, Shelia and Joey Yadon; sister, Cassie Yadon; grandparents, Steve and Marie Johnson; and a host of family and friends to mourn his loss.
Larry W. “Black” Sharp – age 74 of Sharps Chapel, went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2021. He was a lifelong farmer, always working on the farm, and loved to hunt and fish. Black retired from Union County Highway Department after 8 years and the TN Division of Forestry after 20 years.
