Charles Jimmy Sexton

Charles Jimmy Sexton – age 84 of Maynardville, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022. He was born on July 25, 1938 and attended Salem Primitive Church. Jimmy was a member of the Smoky Mountain Model-A Club and was well known by the Pinto on the Pole in Maynardville. He graduated from Horace Maynard High, where he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years.

She was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Clinton and retired as a L.P.N. She was the daughter of the late Floyd O. and Minnie (Miller) Cook; also preceded in death by sister, Doby Jean Cook.

Ronald Lewis Brantley-age 59 of Sharps Chapel passed away Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2022 at Tri-State Manor in Harrogate. He was a very honest and dependable employee of the U. S. Postal Service at Weisgarber Road and Pepsi Cola, Knoxville and a friend to all. He had a strong faith and belief in God. Preceded in death by parents, Robert Lewis Brantley and Bertha Sue (Graham) Tipton.

Jason Leonard-Tillery Bailey, age 43 of Luttrell, TN passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was a member of Ridgeview Heights Baptist Church and was an employee of Action Exterminating for 18 years.

Ray K. Wright

Roy Kenneth Wright, age 96, of Maynardville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 4, 2022. The son of Otis and Arkie Wright, Roy was born on June 10, 1926, in Sharps Chapel, TN. He was the third oldest of nine biological and two adopted siblings.
Roy was drafted in the army in 1944 and served his country in Germany until being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He was called back to duty in 1951 and served a year in Korea.

Kyle Ridenour

Kyle Ridenour, born December 11, 1934, of Union County, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2022. He was a member of Byrams Fork Baptist Church. Served in the United States Army and retired from Tennessee Department of Transportation after 35 years of service. He was a man who added laughter to many lives.

Alan Gray Sherman

Alan Gray Sherman-age 77 of Maynardville, TN born December 18, 1944 passed away Saturday morning, November 26, 2022 at his home. He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Knoxville. He was a retired Veteran of the Viet Nam War with the United States Navy at the rank of Master Chief with 24 years of service and was awarded several medals and accommodations including a Purple Heart.

He was a member of Mountain View Church of God of the Union Assembly. He had a great love for his church family, music and fox hunting. Katelyn Ashton Garrett – age 18 of Corryton, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022 at U T Medical Center. Our beautiful precious Kate lost her battle to AML. She fought long and hard and was so brave. Not only for all of us, but for her perfect baby girl, Madison Grace. We know that Katelyn is no longer in pain. She went through those Pearly Gates. Katlyn gets to walk with our Father, hug her mother and hold her baby girl.

George Odra Sweet-age 62 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord suddenly Thursday afternoon, November 10, 2022 at his home. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. He loved wood working in his own wood working shop and also loved hunting, especially archery. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Sweet; brothers, Lawrence, Jeff and Rome Sweet.

Sue’s quote was that her Lord never disappointed her. She was a retired employee of the former Standard Knitting Mill and The Palm Beach Company.
