Barbara “Bobbie” Shoffner – age 85 of Maynardville, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2022 at North Knox Medical Center.
She is preceded in death by parents, Roy and Clara Bess (Miller) Wolfenbarger; infant son, Stanley David Shoffner; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” and Marilyn Shoffner; granddaughter, Tyra Shoffner; sisters, JoAnn Wyrick and Patsy Haynes; and brother, Troy Wolfenbarger. Bobbie is survived by daughter, Sandra (Troy) Greene; grandchildren, Logan Oxendine, Jim Greene and Tiffany Shoffner; great grandson, Kenny Greene; and sister, Charlotte Helm.
Curtis “Marty” Corum, Jr. – age 72 of Maynardville, passed away suddenly October 15, 2022 at his home. He was of the Church of God faith and served in the U. S. Army. Marty was a member of Sheet Metal Worker Local #5. He loved fishing, hunting and anything about cars and trucks.
William Troy Dixon-age 70 of Maynardville passed away Friday morning, October 14, 2022 at Beverly Park Place, Knoxville.
Troy is survived by sisters, Mary, Bonnie and Georgia; brother, James Lynn Dixon; son, William and daughter, Angie; grandsons, Tyler and Kyle.
Raymond Everett McDonnell, Jr.-age 71 of Maynardville went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at his home. He attended Salem Baptist Church in Halls and was a retired professor of biology at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College, Middlesboro, Kentucky. He held a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and a Doctorate Degree in Life Sciences from the University of Tennessee. Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved life and helping others. He was very witty and comical at times and loved to share a funny story with family and friends.
Pearlene Sizemore-age 87 of Luttrell passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. She attended Hansard Chapel United Methodist Church. She was the last surviving member of the late Gerome and Lula (Coble) Sandridge family. Also preceded in death by husband, Arthur Sizemore; son Stephen Sizemore; brothers, Virgil Sandridge, David Sandridge and Charles Sandridge; sisters, Magdaline Prayter, Eileen Connerton and Delores Vaughn.
Avit Junior Turner-age 78 of Middlesboro, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Middlesboro Nursing and Rehab. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a former coal miner. Preceded in death by sons, Damon Turner and Tommy Turner.
Survivors: son, Tim Turner of Morristown; daughters, Patricia Collins of Thorn Hill; Kathrine and Tony Carroll of Tazewell; Louetta Turner of Tazewell. Fourteen grandchildren, Twelve Great-Grandchildren. Brother, Delbert and Sheryl Turner of Tazewell. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews.
Shane David Cooke-age 64 of Maynardville passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a member of Little Valley Baptist Church. Shane was graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1976; retired employee of DeRoyal Industries, Maynardville plant with 40 years of service. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend. Preceded in death by wife, Denise Capps Cooke; parents, Lynn and Mackie (Laws) Cooke.
Survivors: brother, Clint Cooke; nephew, Jacob Cooke, both of Maynardville.
Bonnie Faye (Graves) Heifner-age 86 of Knoxville passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at her home. She was a member of Blaine Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Ralph “Hotshot” Heifner; parents, Ulys and Myrtle (Beeler) Graves; grandson, Matthew Allen Butcher; great-grandson, Matthew Allen Butcher, Jr.
Mabel (McBee) Norris – age 94 of Heiskell, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 9, 2022 at NHC Knoxville. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Hugh (Jim) Greene, Jr.-age 74 of Powder Springs went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening, October 6, 2022 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Jim was a saved man and was a faithful longtime member of Powder Springs Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and he served in the Viet Nam War. He was employed at Plasti-Line Corporation in Powell for many years and later worked at Braxton-Bragg before retirement.
Dana S. Simerly-age 74 of Maynardville passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at his home. We have lost a good friend, son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. The community has lost a caring and giving individual. Humanity has lost a loving, kind, giving, generous, and all-around exceptional human being. Dana’s friends and family have been fortunate to see his place, known as Zoolook, evolve from a rugged wooded fifty-some acres to a subtlety managed wildlife preserve of great beauty.
Libby Ann Brantley – age 67 of Corryton, passed away suddenly with Keith by her side. She was a member of Warwick Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by parents, Walter P. and Thelma Monroe; brothers-in-law J. V. Waller and Raymond Sanders. Libby is survived by husband of 50 years, Keith Brantley; children, Matthew (Amy) Brantley and Adam (Stephanie) Brantley; her special fur babies, Maggie and Izzy; grandchildren, Bryson, Jackson, Parker, Bowen and Jordyn; sisters, Anna Mae Sanders, Linda Waller and Sherry (Kenny) Hall; and many nieces and nephews.
Sandra Faye Stephens - 71 of Corryton, passed away October 3, 2022. No services are planned at this time.
Rochelle Alena Helms – age 28 of Maynardville, passed away suddenly on October 2, 2022. Rochelle was a member of Alder Springs Baptist Church. She was born on November 9, 1993 at the University of Tennessee Hospital. Rochelle was a graduate of Union County High School Class of 2012. She was a licensed cosmetologist and owner of Bronzed Brilliance Tanning. She was a natural at everything she set her mind to. Rochelle enjoyed crafting, painting and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Above all Rochelle was the mother to her son, her pride and joy, Clay.
Dannie L. Dunn – born October 10, 1946, passed away September 30 in his sleep. He now joins our youngest daughter, Tracy who passed away February 7, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Sharon of 55 years; daughter, Stacy Dunn; sister, Tonya; niece, Kristan of Dunnellon, Florida; and many relations that have made many great memories in his life. A huge thank you to everyone that has reached out to our family.
Rev. Albert Richard (Dick) Baumgardner-age 83 of Washburn went to be with his Lord Friday morning, September 30, 2022 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab. He was a retired minister of the Gospel and a former pastor of Cedar Ford Baptist Church serving for 32 years; a graduate of Carson-Newman University and Southern Seminary. He served in and retired from the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He had 22 years of service with the Army, the last two years, he served as security for Air Force One.
Darrell “Dwayne” Nicley-age 52 of Washburn passed Wednesday evening, September 28, 2022 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by grandparents, Cornelius and Rozella Nicley; James C. and Stella Williams.
Survivors: two sons, Keegan Nicley and Colton Nicley; parents Darrell and Patricia (Williams) Nicley; brother, Greg Nicley and wife, Crystal; niece, Haley Waller and husband, Noah; nephew, Jace Nicley. Several aunts and uncles along with a host of friends.
Zollie Belinda Beeler-age 60 of Maynardville, born November 25, 1961 passed away Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving children and Christina Shadrick. She was of the Baptist faith and was saved at an early age. Preceded in death by loving husband, Ronnie Lee Beeler; son, Ron Beeler; father, Fred Finley; mother, Geraldine Finley; brother, Eddie Finley; grandson, Landon Suttles, several aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Kyle Franklin Burgan-age 43 of Andersonville passed away suddenly Tuesday evening, September 27, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was a loving husband, father and Papaw. Preceded in death by grandparents, Clifford and Trula Hutchison; uncle, Lonnie Hutchison.
