Letter to the editor: Our effort to maintain the pristine condition of Norris Lake Water

In the medical and Dental profession of which I am a member the key word is PREVENTION!

Many times Government tries to correct a problem which it helped create by its INACTION!

I urge our local representatives to be PROACTIVE not REACTIVE to the problem of the "Chicken Farm" in Sharps Chapel. The runoff of untreated waste (6000-10000 pounds) per day from 36000-72000 hens will likely cause great damage to Norris Lake, including pollution causing fish to die, reduction of property values, thus reducing the tax revenue to Union County.

Chiropractic care in federally qualified health centers

Access to essential health care is limited in economically depressed urban areas. Federally qualified health centers strive to bridge the gap of care to these areas by providing affordable, comprehensive health care. Some of the risk factors for chronic pain happen to be the same risk factors that are common among those who utilize FQHCs (low education level, low socioeconomic status, and higher rate of substance dependence or abuse). Therefore, those more likely to have chronic pain are also more likely to have their healthcare needs met at FQHCs.

Lynda's Storm Story

Ironically, when she inadvertently drove into a potentially dangerous situation, she responded with more bravery than I ever would have.

Anytimee borsch

I like beets. It seems the fresh ones can only be found in the summertime. No matter, the canned ones are good, too. This recipe calls for canned beets. I will save the fresh ones to where they can star alone. A great soup for a hot summer day.

March is considered a blustery month, with winds being kicked up by the seasonal changeover. And you probably haven’t thought about it since 8th grade science, but it might be interesting to review why we have wind at all.
