Pies due Sept. 30 for Heritage Festival contest

Union County Heritage Festival is coming up on October 1!
Help us kick off the festival with our 2022 Heritage Festival Pie Baking Contest.
Open to all ages, this is a great way to showcase your baking skills and win cash prize money. Not to mention bragging rights and recognition during the festival.
Pies can be submitted in three categories: Fruit, Nut, and Other. On Friday, September 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., pies will be accepted at the Union County Farmers Market Pavilion located at 115 Durham Drive in Maynardville.
That afternoon, judges get to work evaluating taste, texture and appearance of the pies to determine winners in each category. A Grand Champion is chosen as well and all winners are announced on Saturday, October 1, at Union County Heritage Festival.
Even if you are not a pie baker, you can join in on the fun. Pies will be sold online to benefit Union County 4-H with convenient pickup near the festival on Saturday morning. For full contest rules, visit https://unioncountyheritagefestival.com/ or email avictoria@utk.edu.
Also, UT Extension will be hosting a youth pie crust workshop for 4-H students on September 20 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. To register, call 865-992-8038 or email olivia@utk.edu.
