Berta Jean Knight

Berta Jean Knight of Luttrell, TN went to be with the Lord while surrounded by family on March 11, 2019. Known as Jean, she loved her Lord and Savior and was loved by her husband, Louie, of 65 years and seven children. She led a prayer ministry for many years, loved to cook, fish, and garden. She was a talented seamstress and baker, creating wedding cakes and gowns for her own daughter’s weddings. She sponsored the first Brownie Troup in Titusville, FL and served as Girl Scout Leader for many years.

Betty Jean (Byerley) Hill

Betty Jean (Byerley) Hill, age 87, of Corryton passed away at 5:13 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 while at home surrounded by her family. She is a member of Rutherford Memorial United Methodist Church. She was loved by all and loving and caring to all those around her. She enjoyed watching tv, talking on the phone with her family, reading the newspaper and magazines, and looking out the window to the pasture on her farm. Preceded in death by husband Benjamin A. Hill, daughter; Clara Marie Hill and mother, Bonnie Sharp Harvey. Survivors; daughter, Sheree (Tom) Gordon, Fayetteville, N.C.

Autumn Brandi Strader, age 45, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019. She had a strong Christian faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, and mamaw, who took pride in her family. Preceded in death by dad Bill Cantrell, uncle Ronnie Gregg, grandmommy Gregg, mother-in-law Karen Scarbrough.

Rev. Terry Sawyer

Rev. Terry Alan Sawyer – age 60 of Powell, went home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2019. He was a member of Pleasant Gap Baptist Church and many other church families. Terry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the sweet Holy Spirit.

Connie Sue Turner – age 74 of Maynardville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 10, 2019. She was a member of Alder Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Connie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and a friend to many.

Xen B. Edward Portwood II

Xen B Edward Portwood II, age 73, of Knoxville, passed away March 9, 2019 at UT Medical Center, surrounded by family and loved ones. Xen was a 1963 graduate of Holston High School and served in the Air National Guard.
Xen was the owner of Portwood Communication Constructors for the majority of his adult life prior to retirement. He enjoyed being at the lake, camping, flying airplanes, classic cars and time with his grandkids.

Amanda A. Delph

Amanda Almarine Delph, 78, loving mother, grandmother and precious child of God, passed away Sunday, March 10th, 2019. Proceeded in death by parents William and Mary Ballew; siblings, Bill Ballew and Betty Roy. Survived by four children, Jeff Delph (Regina), Kathi Heifner (Bobby), James Delph, Lori Johnson; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and best friend Robin Delph (Bill). April "Peanut" Jean Weaver Robison

April "Peanut" Jean Weaver Robison passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center. She was born on June 9, 1967 to Jeffrey Lynn Weaver and Janice (Weaver) Ogle. She graduated from Fulton High School. Her sense of humor was felt in everyone she met and never met a stranger. She truly loved her mother Janice, sister Gena, and all of her family. Her passion was her 3 little chihuahuas; Prissy, Prince and Bella. Fiance, Johnnie Beeler. She loved her step father, Eddie Ogle as though he was her biological father.

Ruth (Neubert) Gentry, age 91, of Corryton passed away at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She retired from Hillcrest Nursing Institute and then retired from the Gibbs Weigel’s Store. She is preceded in death by parents, Arthur & Hortence Neubert, husband, Wiley Gentry, and daughter, Sammie Gentry.

Carrie “Jean” Nicely-age 79 of Washburn went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at her home. She was a lifetime member of Pennington Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by grandson, Casey Buckner.

Rudolph E. Wardrep-age 90 of Maynardville passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at his home. Rudolph was a U. S. Navy Veteran. Member of Westside Baptist Temple. Survived by Audrey Nelson of Maynardville; daughter, Diana Ezell of Halls.
Military graveside service and interment 2 P.M. Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Skaggs Cemetery, Maynardville, Rev. Mike Earl officiating. Military honors by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. James "Bo" Jones

James Edward “Bo” Jones – age 67 of Andersonville, passed peacefully and gracefully into the arms of the Lord after battling a year of cancer. Bo was born on May 20, 1951 in Knoxville and was a 1970 graduate of Fulton High School. He loved working with the custodial staff at Central High School and retired from Knox County Schools in 2016. His hobbies were fishing, gardening with his sister and collecting wind chimes. He was the kindest person you could ever meet. The most important thing you should know about Bo is that he was saved around the age of 20 at Ailordale Baptist Church.

John "Moon" Hubbs

John LaFate “Moon” Hubbs – age 60 of Maynardville, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 1:29 a.m. in North Knoxville Medical Center. He professed faith in Jesus Christ at an early age.

He is preceded in death by parents, Harold Glynn and Dorothy June Hubbs; grandmother, Sue Copeland; brothers, Harold Gene Hubbs, Jerry Lynn Hubbs and James Pheo “Jim” Hubbs; and girlfriend, Lisa Campbell. He is survived by daughter, Jonna Sue Hubbs; brother, Larry Glynn Hubbs; and a host of family and friends.

Randolph H. Pittman

Randolph H. Pittman-age 57 of Knoxville, born April 17, 1961 in Hastings, Michigan passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 3, 2019 at Willow Ridge Center where he had resided for several years. He was a honorably discharged United States Navy Veteran. He is survived by a sister, Angela Marie Wise of Battle Creek, Michigan. John E. (J Bird) Smith-age 67 of Luttrell passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2019 at his home. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, J. P. and Dorothy (Tharp) Smith; brother, Don Smith; grandparents, Ernest and Pearl Tharp, Charlie and Ella Smith.

Shirley Smith Savage-age 66 of Rutledge, formerly of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, February 28, 2019 at U. T. Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith and an employee of Ridgeview Terrace Nursing Home, Housekeeping Department, Rutledge. Shirley was preceded in death by husband, Hall Smith; parents, Edgar and Hettie Lynch; brother, Claude Lynch; sisters, Jan Wollard and Judy Lynch.

Claudia E. Huskey, born January 16, 1939, went to be with the Lord February 28, 2019. Glennis E. Harris, age 87 of Knoxville, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at his home. He was a member of House Mountain Church of Christ and retired from Martin-Marietta. Survived by wife of 65 years Alice Harris, sons Phillip Harris (Kathy) and Bryan Harris, daughter Donna Harbin (Greg), grandchildren Brandy, Chris, Ashley, Jordan, Alex, Lauren, Ethan, and Joey, great-grandchildren Peyton, Christian, Makayla, Haley, Harper, Jake, Luke, Levi, Caison, Colton, and Remi, great-great-grandchild Caroline, brother Jack Harris (Linda), and several nieces and nephews.

Michael Raymond Grahl

Michael Raymond Grahl, born July 26, 1954, passed away on February 27, 2019. He was a Mason and former mechanic. Thomas Keaton

Thomas Lee Keaton – 80 of Corryton, took his heavenly flight, Tuesday, February 26, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Cedar Ford Baptist Church, Luttrell where he was an active member of the Ready Sunday School Class. He retired a Sgt. From the Tennessee Highway Patrol in 1990 after 30 yers of service. He served as Sheriff of Union County from 1990 to 1994. He loved his family as well as his church family. He spent many good times with family and friends at church, Norris Lake, and the family farm.
