James (Frank) Edwards

James (Frank) Edwards, age 80, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 22nd after a long illness. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and playing his guitar. He was a member and deacon of Bryams Fork Baptist Church.

Irene (Walker) Nelson

Irene (Walker) Nelson - age 83 of Halls passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, mamaw, aunt, and friend. She is now rejoicing in heaven alongside of her husband Arvel Marion Nelson, daughter Martha Nelson, grandson Jason Nelson, parents Andy and Cora Walker, brothers Glen Walker, Houlk Walker, Perry Walker, sisters Virgie Gabriel, Cecila Brantley, and Ethel Dennis. Her legacy lives on through her loving and devoted family: daughter Judy (David) Walton, sons Tommy (Marlene) Nelson and Jeff Nelson.

Scott Sparks

Scott Sparks, age 51, of Knoxville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19th, 2018. Scott earned his bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina, his masters degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and was a teacher at Karns High School. He was a former College Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, former Pastor at White Stone Church, and founding Pastor of The Grove Church. Scott's passion was leading people to Christ and walking along side them in their faith journey.

John Sterling Inklebarger

John Sterling Inklebarger, age 82, of Corryton, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018. He was a member of Graveston Baptist Church. He owned his own trucking company hauling building materials until a tragic accident in 1973 that left him disabled. He loved traveling with family and spending time with his friends whittling and trading knives. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Irene Wyrick Sherritze

Flossie Irene “Nanny” Sherritze-age 90 of Maynardville, born December 3, 1927 went to be with her Lord Sunday morning, February 18, 2018 at home. She was devoted to her family and her church. She was a member of Hines Creek Baptist Church in which she was instrumental in getting organized in the early 1950’s. Preceded in death by parents, Edgebert and Lucy Wyrick; husband, Charles “Rattler” Sherritze; daughter, Norma Faye Sherritze; brothers, Ralph, John, Fate, Jim, Ceba, Swann, J. Will and Earl Wyrick.

Austin Logan Knight

Austin Logan Knight, age 18 of Knoxville passed away February 17, 2018. He was in the class of 2018 at Halls High School, where he wrestled for 1 year and played football for 1 year, and had completed all of his requirements to graduate and started college at Roane State to become an EMT. He was a member of Lonsdale United Methodist Church. Austin loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the Children of the American Revolution.

Jackie Ray Campbell

Jackie Ray Campbell-age 70 of New Tazewell passed away Friday afternoon, February 16, 2019 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a member of Chittums Chapel Baptist Church and was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors: sisters: Margie Stansberry and Nancy Harvey, both of New Tazewell.

Private memorial service will be held at a later date. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.

James Douglas Kirk

James D. Kirk, age 75, of Corryton, passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2018. He was 6-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of Holston High School and a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church. He loved volunteering at the church’s “Hope Mission House at the Crossroads.” He was a former member of the Volunteer Street Rod Association. He retired from ORNL in Oak Ridge after 27 years of service. He was preceded in death by parents, Earl & Dorothy Kirk.

Nancy Jones

Nancy Joyce Harmon Jones born February 20, 1936, age 81, of Powell, Tennessee passed away February 14, 2018 just shy of her 82nd birthday. She attended Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing and was a 1957 graduate. She was a RN with Ft. Sanders Regional for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by parents John and Kathleen Harmon; daughter Jennifer Jones Crowe; and brother C.B. Harmon.

Ethel Clark

Ethel Louise Clark, age 90, passed away at home Wednesday, February 15, 2018. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Ollie Tipton and Mary Louise Burnett; and her brother, Elmer Paul Tipton.

Marjorie Ruth Arden Henegar

Marjorie Ruth Arden Henegar, age 84, of Knoxville, passed away February 14, 2018. She was a life-long member of Salem Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and played the organ for many years. She retired from Salem Baptist Church after many years of dedicated service. In her spare time, Marjorie enjoyed bowling and participating in many leagues and teams in town. She is preceded in death by her father, George Arden; mother and step-father, Louemma & George Humphries; brother, Clarence Henry Arden; sister, Mary McLain.

Joyce Arrowood Walker

Joyce Arrowood Walker, age 83, of Knoxville, passed away February 11, 2018. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Powell and also faithfully attended Black Oak Heights Baptist Church for many years. Joyce loved her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by husband, Claude E. Walker; parents, Ashley & Rosa Arrowood; sisters, Opal Morgan, Juanita Skellington, Virginia Arrowood, and Dorothy Sizemore; and brothers, Bill Arrowood, Mickey Arrowood, and Ashley Arrowood Jr.

Joyce "Jo" Joiner

Joyce “Jo” Naomi Joiner, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on February 10, 2018 after a long battle with dementia. She was a long time member of Concord Baptist Church. Throughout her lifetime, she showed real love by her many acts of kindness to family. friends and animals. Her husband of 72 years and our father, Donald Joiner, mirrored that love by the way he cared for her in their home 24/7 without a single lament throughout the entire battle. Donnie Allen Edmonds, age 61, of Knoxville, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9th, 2018. He was preceded in death by parents Earl and Evelyn Edmonds, siblings Mary Collins and Darrell Edmonds, brother-in-law Donnie “Skip” Dishner, and nephew Kevin Laughtery.

Jackie J. Hayes-age 46 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, February 11, 2018 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by father, Jackie Virgil Hayes.

Survivors: son, Dustin Hayes and fiancée, Laura of Knoxville; daughter, Annalinne Rachel Hayes of Maynardville; mother, Anna Hayes, Maynardville; brother, Joseph Hayes; nephews and niece, Tanner, Ethan and Gracie.

Rickey DeWayne Cameron-age 55 of Corryton passed to his Heavenly home Saturday morning, February 10, 2018. He was a member of The Church of God of Maynardville. Preceded in death by his sister, Robin Amanda Moore; grandparents, Trula and Swan Chamberlain, Eva and Perry Cameron.

Micah Slade Evans

Micah Slade Evans, age 25, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly February 8, 2018 due to an automobile accident. He is a member of the Baptist faith. He was an employee of Bailey Manufacturing. Micah was preceded in death by grandmother Vickie Evans and “Pops” Rich Ellison. He is survived by: loving mother Tonja Ellison (step-father, Chuck); brother Ty; sister Harlee; step-sister Kaitlyn; grandparents Larry and Brenda Russell, and Roger Bishop and Arlene Ellison; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Micah was an avid sports fan -The Ultimate-; he believed in the Tar Heels and Titans.
