Virgie Asher-age 75 of Sharps Chapel, formerly of Hazard, Kentucky went home to be with her Heavenly Father Monday afternoon, May 7, 2018 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. She was retired employee of Clayton Homes of Maynardville. Preceded in death by father, Thomas Stacey; mother, Pauline Stacey.

Dwayne E. McCarter

Dwayne E. McCarter-age 71 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, May 7, 2018 at his home. He attended The Way of the Cross Baptist Church. He was the owner/operator of McCarter Seamless Guttering of 46 years. Dwayne generously served his community and children of the area as a lifelong member of the Union County Optimist Club. He was a leader and official through his service on various community committees and the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by daughters, Kristel Dawn McCarter and Lisa S.

Dorothy Huddleston

Dorothy Huddleston, age 84 of Corryton, passed away on May 7, 2018. She was a member of Graveston Baptist Church. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Huddleston. She is survived and will be deeply missed by sons, Mike Huddleston (Alicia), Timmy Huddleston (Stephanie) and Duayne Huddleston (Toni) as well as many grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and her brother, Steve Bowling. Sydney Riehl

Sydney Callaway Riehl, infant daughter of Mark & Haleigh Riehl, passed away on May 3rd 2018. Frieda Nichols

Frieda Nichols – age 81 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by children, Philip Strasser, Gerhart Nichols, Anita Nichols, Randy Nichols, Kim Bennett and Bryan Nichols; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

David Charles Cheney

David Charles “Roadrunner” Chesney-age 67 of Luttrell went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2018 at his home. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. David was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church and a U. S. Veteran. He was a retired truck driver for Claiborne Hauling. Preceded in death by parents, James “Rass” and Joise Vernis Chesney; nephew, Little Rick Houston.

Harry Lane III

Harry J. Lane III, age 73 of Knoxville, passed Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was a Navy Vietnam Veteran, a proud grandfather, and a loving father. He is preceded in death by wife Mary E. Lane and sons Sam Butcher and Greg Butcher. He is survived by sons Jesse Butcher and Justin Lane (Tiffany), daughter-in-law Edith Butcher, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, as well as several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10th, 2018 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City. Family and friends will meet 1:45p.m.

Eric M. Westerman

Eric Michael Westerman, age 22, passed away Saturday May 5, 2018. He was a graduate of Halls High School and also attended Pellisippi State. He was a member of the Magrigals of Halls from 2013 to 2014, which was the highlight of his school years. He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Jack and Wanda Westerman; and maternal grandparents Evelyn and Ralph Smith of Alabama. Eric is survived by father Doug Westerman (wife Debbie), mother Deb Smith, uncle Gary Westerman (wife Kristy), cousin Kara Westerman, and many extended family and friends.

Michael Shane Smith

Michael Shane Smith-age 46 of Corryton passed away Friday evening, May 4, 2018 at his home after a year long battle with lymphoma. Shane was a trooper and fought cancer hard without wavering and never complaining. He was a member of Atkins Baptist Church. Shane was a dedicated driver for XPO Logistics for 25 years and considered his fellow drivers to be family. Shane loved to restore cars and one of his biggest loves was his 1965 Ford. He had many hobbies to include hunting, camping and was happiest at car shows.

Eddie Hall Irick

Eddie Hall Irick – has joined his beloved wife Violet in Heaven. A farmer at heart, Eddie Hall lived a life full of music, laughter, love for his family and tractors.

Eddie Hall is preceded in death by wife, Violet Irick; parents, Ed and Sally Irick; siblings, Carl, Tyson, Opal, Clayton, Maxie and Hazel. He is survived by son, Steve and daughter-in-law Kathy; daughter, Jackie; grandkids, Ethan, Kelly and Carl; and sister-in-law, Ollie (Robert) Ellison.

Jefferson (Jeff) Williford

Jefferson (Jeff) Williford, age 24, born on September 8, 1993, left this earth on May 2, 2018. His smile lit up an entire room like sunshine and brightened the darkest of days. Always the hardest worker who only wanted to give, not take. He never met a stranger and could never make an enemy. Loved by all who knew him. He leaves behind loving family: mother and step-father, Melissia and Ray Green of Knoxville; father and step-mother, Bill and Melissa Williford of Powell; brothers Billy Williford, Jr.

Mary Frances Underwood

Mary Frances Underwood, age 76, of Norris passed away on April 26, 2018. She is preceded in death by father, Leon Underwood; mother, Doris Raines; stepfather, Warren Acuff; and brothers, Bill Underwood and Bob Brown. Harold Waddell Dyer

Harold W. Dyer – age 72 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully at his home on May 3, 2018. He was a member of Alder Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Harold was a United States Navy and Vietnam Veteran where he served aboard the U.S.S. Mills #383. He enjoyed his yearly reunion with his Mills Shipmates. He was owner and operator of Dyer’s Garage and the original Thunder Road Motor Cars. Harold also enjoyed wood working and being with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Harley Weyman (H. W.) Elkins

Harley Weyman (H. W.) Elkins – age 89 of the Big Ridge Community, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018. He spent his life working as a dairy farmer and as a school bus contractor with Union County Schools for over 50 years. He was a member and Deacon of Valley Grove Baptist Church and a member of J. C. Baker Masonic Lodge #720.

Kathleen (Kathy) Thompson-age 63 of Maynardville passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 at her home. She was a proud CNA employee of Tennova Residential Hospice from the time it opened till the time it closed. Preceded in death by husband, Donnie (Smokey) Thompson; parents, Leslie Berger and Joan Gazley.

John Allen Rhyne Sr.

John Allen Rhyne , age 83, of Powell, passed away at Physician’s Regional Medical Center on April 24, 2018. He was a founding member of The Church at Sterchi Hills. John retired from over 50 years of working in the transportation industry. In his spare time, he enjoyed all things outdoors, especially fishing and camping in the mountains. He loved being around people, especially his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Jean Smart Rhyne; parents, Jack and Edith Rhyne; brothers, Charles and Eddie Rhyne; and sister, Jessie Milligan.
