Barbara Jean Greene, age 56 of Knoxville passed away May 2, 2019. She is preceded in death by father Billy Gene Hamblin. Survived by children Joshua Rogers (Jessica) and Mathew Greene, grandchildren Cassen Rogers, Brody Rogers, Lily Belle Rogers, mother and step-father Jean and Floyd Pemberton, brothers Mark Hamblin (Virgina), Mitchell Pemberton (Wendy), sister Michelle Miller (Dennis), and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Margaret Mary Brady, age 73 of Powell, TN went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a faithful member of Highland View Baptist Church. Marge was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Ruth Hern; daughter, Debbie; granddaughter, Charlene.

Bessie Lee Dykes – 80 of Seymour, born October 19, 1938 passed away Friday morning May 3, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vasco and Sarah (Sharp) Dykes; sisters, June Ott and Bonnie Goddard; and brother, Harold Dykes. Bessie is survived by sisters, Faye Keck, Zettie Booker, Alice Sexton, and Ruby Sexton; brothers, Bud Dyke, Hershel Dykes, Bruce Dykes and Donnie Dykes; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara Loy Beeler

Barbara Loy Beeler, age 73, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her home April 28, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was a devoted Christian and was loved by many. Barbara never met a stranger, and was always full of joy and willing to help anyone in need. She is preceded in death by her father Arthur Loy and her mother Wanda Loy. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Max Beeler; her daughter Kimberly (Bernard) Harrell; grandson Gavin; her sister Susan (Jerry) Loy Jones; nieces Mitz (Paul) Hoffmann and Rachael (Drew) Nelson; and great nephews Zachary and Maddox.

Shawn David Bailey – age 30 of Maynardville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 26, 2019. He was of the Baptist faith. Shawn was employed by Earthadelic Lawn Care. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding 4 wheelers, fishing, basketball and spending time with family and friends.

Arthur Fortner, age 79 of Knoxville passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019. He faithfully attended Union Baptist Church. Arthur enjoyed gardening and had a great sense of humor and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Proceeded in death by parents Jobie and Macie Worley Fortner; father-in-law Emerson Mynatt. Survived by his wife of 47 years Carol Mynatt Fortner; daughter April Fortner Randolph (Blake); grandchildren Macie Randolph and Cooper Randolph; siblings Leta Fortner, Delores Welch, Leola Powell (George), Walter Fortner (Judy); several nieces and nephews.

James "Jimmie" Carson Gray

James Carson (Jimmie) Gray of Halls, passed away Friday afternoon (April 26, 2019) at his home, just a few days shy of his 88th birthday (May 7th). Jimmie was a devoted husband, father, brother and papaw. He served during the Korean War and was a carpenter by trade. Jimmie enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting and spending time with his family. His love for his wife and daughters was evident in everything he did. Preceded in death by parents, Carlie V. Gray and Ada Hall Gray, siblings Helen Rutledge, Mae Rutledge, C.V. Gray, Robert Gray, Billy Gray.

James "Jimmy" F. Hill

James “Jimmy” F. Hill, age 56, went to be with his Lord on April 26, 2019. He was a member of Spring Place Presbyterian Church. He was a loving husband, father and brother. He was employed by Elavon and a former employee of Knoxville News Sentinel. Preceded in death by parents Howard and Margaret Hill, sister Rhonda Brady, brothers Jack Armes, Tommy Hill and Bill Hill. Survived by wife of 30 years Lisa Hill, son James Logan Hill, sister Katherine Strange, brother Mike Hill, many nieces and nephews along with many great nieces and nephews and daddy’s little buddy Chip.

Diane Marie Safgren

Diane Marie Safgren-age 62 of Knoxville passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at U. T. Medical Center. Preceded in death by brother, Russell. She was formerly employed as a clerk with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Survivors: sons, Rob Brown, Tim Kitts and Josh Axton; grandchildren, Autumn, Tahlia, Robert, Miracle, Jewel and Kalel.

Arlie Edward "Bud" Church

On April 25, 2019, in Knoxville, TN, Arlie Edward “Bud” Church, age 97, entered his well-deserved eternal rest. He was a long-standing member of Knoxville Primitive Baptist Church. He was born in Whitesburg, KY on May 20, 1921. He volunteered for the Army in 1940 where he remained until the end of World War II. His units landed at Utah beach June 12, 1944. He participated in the Liberation of France, Battle of the Bulge and continued on to Germany for the hard-fought victory the allies had long sought. After returning home he married the love of his life June Church.

Harley "Stuart" Garrett

Harley “Stuart” Garrett, age 88 of Calhoun, Georgia, formerly of Knoxville passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at his residence. He graduated from Central High School, then went to East TN State University where he obtained Bachelor of Science and obtained his Master’s degree in music from Peabody University. He retired from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville as a Cataloging Librarian and Associate Professor after 30 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Knoxville. Ronnie Wayne Lewis Jr.

Ronnie “Bo” Lewis, age 45, of Knoxville, passed away on April 24, 2019.
His first two words were “I Bo”, and the nickname stuck forever. Bo loved Tennessee Football
and was an All-American guy.
Bo is preceded in death by his “Nona” Bernice Jones/Butler; uncles Jerry Jones and Johnny
Jones; and cousin Kerry Brummett.
He is survived by daughter Cierra Lewis; son Chase Lewis; grandchildren Liam and Farrah;

Jeanette Mahan

Jeanette C. Mahan, age 75, of Anderson County, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2019. She is survived by children Lynn Hewitt, Jeffery Weaver, and Clyde Mahan; grandsons Dustin Ray Hewitt and Travis Shawn Hewitt; granddaughters Cassandra Frye and Whitney Mahan; great-granddaughter Grace Cox; and brother Roy Childress; special son-in-law Frank Courrier. Stanley "Shorty" Max Joyce

Stanley "Shorty" Max Joyce, age 82, passed away on April 20, 2019. He was of Baptist Faith. He served his country valiantly in the U.S. Army. Stanley retired from the Knox County School Janitorial Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Newt and Edna Joyce; brothers, Robert, Kayo and James; and sisters, Mildred, Zelma, Mayme, Jenny and Lockey. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Joyce; daughter, Rhonda Womack (Guy); grandchildren, Joshua Womack (Miranda) and Ashley Duffey (Luke); great-grandchild, Baby Duffey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
