Monroe Alex Brown-age 74 of Maynardville passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a retired patent Attorney. Born in New Jersey, he was the son of the late Grant and Florence Jacobson Brown.
Private interment 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021, Lakeview Cemetery, Lenoir City. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
James Edward Kessinger-age 88 of Washburn passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, February 16, 2021 at North Knoxville Medical Center. U. S. Army Veteran. He was a retired truck driver and loved to fish on Norris Lake and he enjoyed playing guitar with his friend, Billy Joe Nicely. Jim was a dual member of Powell Lodge #582 F & AM in Powell and Robinson-Plumb Lodge #266 in Kentucky. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite in Louisville, Kentucky and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by parents, Slaughter Francis and Bertha Ann Kessinger; son, Wesley Kessinger.
Margaret Lynn Bowles – age 83 of Maynardville, born November 26, 1937, went to her Heavenly home, February 16, 2021 at home with her family. She was saved at a young age and is a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Helen L. Lay Holloway-age 80 of Sharps Chapel passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at The Waters of Clinton. She was preceded in death by husbands, Ralph Lay and George Holloway; son, Patrick Lay.
Survivors: son, Gary Lay, Sharps Chapel along with other relatives and friends.
Rev. Clyde E. Beeler-age 67 of Corryton, born August 30, 1953 went to his Heavenly home Saturday, February 13, 2021 at U. T. Medical Center. Preceded in death by parents, Cline and Reva Beeler.
Survived by wife, Thelma Beeler; children, Kevin (Sherry) Beeler and Julia Beeler; grandchildren, Alexis Riggs, Austin Beeler, Kaitlyn (Cody) Arnold; great-grandchild, Judson Arnold. Carolyn Kitts Hensley-age 72 of Luttrell passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Jim Town Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Larry Hensley, Sr.; son, Larry Hensley, Jr.; parents, Estel and Jaunita (Black) Kitts; sister, Janice Wyrick.
David Michael Hayes-age 46 of Knoxville passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at his home. David was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by sister, Melissa Daniels; uncles, Rick Lane, Clark Lane and Rick Hayes.
Survivors: wife, Stephanie Dunn; son, Dakota Hayes, daughter, Brittany Miller; granddaughter, Khaleesi Miller, all of Knoxville. Mother, Joan Ray; father, Steve Hayes; his best friend Tucker (his dog); several aunts, uncles and a host of friends. David was loved by everyone that knew him. He will be missed by all that loved him.
Helen Marie Smith-age 70 of Maynardville passed away Thursday morning, February 11, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. She was saved and professed faith in Christ at an early age. Preceded in death by parents, Clayton “Buster” and Cleo R. Smith.
Survivors: brother, Boyd Smith and wife, Nancy; nephews, Joey Smith, Jeffrey Smith; niece, Jill Jones and husband, Josh; great-nephews, Jake and Juddson Jones. Her special girl, Ivey Buckner; special friend, Allen Buckner along with a host of other friends.
Patty Ann (Ward) Helms – age 61 of Maynardville born June 7, 1959, passed away on February 9, 2021 at University of Tennessee Hospital after a short illness. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Andersonville. She loved visiting and talking with family and her friends and will be greatly missed.
Mona H. Chittum – age 80 of Tazewell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family February 9, 2021. She was a member of Faith Deliverance Church.
Polly Ann (Beeler) Monday-age 81 of Luttrell passed away Sunday evening, February 7, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Hattie Beeler; brother, Claude Beeler; sisters, Edria Muncey, Virgie Brooks and Molly Beeler; brothers-in-law, Ulysses and Carl Monday; sister-in-law, Wanda Hensley; grandson, Justin Daugherty.
Clarence Ray-age 77 of Maynardville, born October 11, 1942 passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital, Tennova. He was a member of Spiritual Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Andy and Maggie Ray; brothers, E. J. Ray and Junior Ray; sisters, Gladys, Dorothy and Mary Teresa Ray.

Susie Belle Nicley-age 67 of Washburn, born February 13, 1953 passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 from Alzheimers at Diversicare of Claiborne. She was preceded in death by Husband, Charles (Buster) Nicley; parents, Hue Gene (Hootie) and Ina Graves; sister, Janice Coffey and an infant brother.

Tammy is survived by husband of 29 years, Tim Young, son, Joseph (Nicole Lytle) Young; mother, Mary Meek; brother, Jeffery Meek; aunt, Nancy Ervin; uncles, Jim Norris and Johnny (Claudett) Norris; very special niece, Melissa England; and several nieces and nephews.

Ina C. Bates Smith-age 74 of Maynardville took her heavenly flight Tuesday, February 2, 2021 with family by her side. She was saved at an early age at Warwick’s Chapel Baptist Church. Ina will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, very proud great-grandmother and a wonderful sister to her family that loved her very much. Preceded in death by husband of 28 years, John Smith; former husband, Ralph Tharp; parents, Earl and Opal Bates; brother, Clifton Bates; nephew, Shannon Bates.
Earl J. “E.J.” Smith-age 58 of Maynardville, world’s 1st Flip-Flop Clogger and well-known Funeral Director passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at his home after a 16-year battle with ITP. He traveled many miles to fight this disease and touched many lives through this battle. He was a devoted funeral director of Ailor Mortuary, Byrds Mortuary and Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville and a monument salesman for Reece Monument Company where he met many friends and touched so many families. E. J. was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Tater Valley, a former Union County Commissioner.
Betty Jo (Johnson) Frye-age 71 of Washburn passed away Saturday morning, January 30, 2021 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Central View American Christian Church. She had a passion for farming and her cattle. Preceded in death by parents, Hollis and Rachel (West) Johnson; grandson, Jason Taylor Brown; great-grandson, Brayden William Frye; son-in-law, Michael Jason Brown.
