Phyllis Keny

Phyllis Keny, 90, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018. Born in Aberdeen, S.D. to Mae and Alphonse Zemlicka, she was very bright and talented in art and music, singing in the choir at Sacred Heart Church where her mother was the choir director/organist for many years. She attended Mt. Marty Catholic High School graduating in 3 years, then Northern State U. with a major in art. During that time, she performed as a singer at various campus venues. She tried out for a spot on the Laurence Welk traveling show in the Dakotas, before the age of TV.

Clay Edward Smith

Clay Edward Smith, age 57, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. He is preceded in death by father, William Smith; mother, Thelma Smith; and brother, Billy Joe Smith. Clay is survived by sisters brothers, Helen Williams, Linda Collins, Joyce Sheffield, David Smith, William Smith, Fred Smith and Michael Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel on Sunday, August 19th from 5-7pm. Family and friends will gather at Water Cemetery on Monday, August 20th at 10:45am for an 11am graveside service.

Frances Kilgore Norman

Frances Kilgore Norman, age 83, of Lakeland Florida, formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on August 12, 2018 at her home in Lakeland Florida. She was of Methodist faith. She was a member of Eastern Star, Mascot Tennessee Order. Frances was a certified nursing assistant. She worked at Lakeland Regional Medical Center and in Home Health Care. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

Dorothy Dean Hatmaker Weaver

Dorothy Dean Hatmaker Weaver, 83, is now with her creator and keeper, Jesus Christ. She died August 13, 2018.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Weaver; sister, Aileen Hatmaker Ruland; nieces, Kim, Tracy, and Renee; a great-nephew and a great-niece.
She is preceded in death by daughter, Candace Weaver Ayers; sister, Barbara Hatmaker Sizemore, and parents.

Thomas "Tommy" Edward Lawless

Thomas Edward Lawless, July 27,1940-August 11, 2018, Thomas (Tommy) Edward Lawless of Maynardville, Tennessee passed away peacefully, Saturday afternoon, surrounded by his loving family at his home on August 11, 2018. Tommy was a graduate of Clinton High School class of 1958. He continued his education at East Tennessee State College and then served in the United States Navy (Vietnam) on a Mine Sweeper as Second Lieutenant for four years. He taught high school math and retired from Frontier High school in Ohio.

Bessie Mae Delozier

Bessie Mae Delozier-age 87 of Luttrell passed away Wednesday morning, August 8, 2018 at North Knoxville Medical Center. The Lord has called. I must go home. I take this time to say goodbye to my family and friends. I was born May 10, 1931 to a pretty little part Indian girl, age 16, Grace Dotson, who married Bill Line. I married at age 16. God gave me 5 wonderful children, 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. I am so blessed with two wonderful step-daughters, three step-grandsons and one step-granddaughter. I leave lots of good friends.

Taniciah Montana Little-age 60 of Speedwell was born March 31, 1958 in Middletown, Ohio. She went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 6, 2018. Carson Munsey

Carson Munsey-age 82 of Washburn passed away 5:35 A.M. Monday, August 6, 2018 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was saved at an early age. Andrew “Andy” J. Brewer, age 91, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018. He was a proud member of New Beverly Baptist Church. He is survived by wife Shirley Ann Brewer, son Ronnie Brewer, step-daughter Sheila Picquet, and many other loving family members. David Wayne Newton, age 51 of Knoxville, passed away suddenly on July 31, 2018. He was a past member of Dutch Valley Baptist Church. He did concrete work for many years. A longtime usher at U.T. Athletic Events. He never met a stranger and would always help anybody. Preceded in death by grandparents John and Melba Edwards and Murphy and Sarada Newton, as well as, several aunts and uncles.

Charolette L. Capshaw “Nona” – 69 of Heiskell, passed away August 1, 2018, peacefully at home with family by her side. She was a faithful wife of 48 years to Jesse C. Capshaw, who preceded her in death. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Wanda Sue Hill

Wanda Sue Hill, 78, returned to the arms of her Lord on August 1, 2018 after a valiant battle with illness. Her loving care for her family and friends was a testimony to the love of God in her life and ultimately gave her peace. A long-time homemaker, Wanda was best known for the way she loved her family and friends. She was an “adopted mom” of her children’s friends and the many young people who knew her through her involvement in the youth ministry of West Haven Baptist Church and YOKE Youth Ministry of Knoxville.

Merry Sue Hipsher

Merry Sue Hipsher, age 86, of Halls Crossroads, passed away from this life to be with the Lord on July 31, 2018. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She worked at Ft. Sanders Hospital as a L.P.N. for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Hipsher; daughter, Donna Warden; son, Jeff Hipsher; parents, Curtis and Ella Marie Steele; sister, Willa Dean Clark; brothers, Jim and David Steele.

Carl William Massengill

Carl William Massengill, age 52, of Andersonville went to his forever home on July 28, 2018. He was a good soul who never met a stranger and was always eager to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a proud gardener. His most precious enjoyment was spending time with his daughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Beulah (Wamack) Massengill; and brothers, Charlie Massengill and Rusty Massengill. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Massengill; sisters, Teresa Sutherland, Charlene Crawford and Rosa Thomas.

William "Bill" Lunsford

William “Bill” Lunsford, age 78, of Knoxville, was called home peacefully on July 30, 2018. He is preceded in death by wife Gwen Lunsford, son Bobby Lunsford, and parents. He is survived by sons Doug (Tisha) Lunsford and Billy Lunsford, grandchildren; Danielle Davis, Kendall Lunsford, Logan Lunsford, and Robert Lunsford; and five great grandchildren. James Earl Grubb, Jr.

James E. Grubb, Jr. (Goob)-age 55 of Maynardville passed away on his birthday, July 29, 2018 at the home of Glinda (Granny) and Frank Justus after a battle with cancer. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and an employee of Knox Rail Salvage for several years. Preceded in death by special grandparents, Earl and Nancey Grubb; father, James E. Grubb.

Survivors include brother, Jeffery Grubb; step-mother, Susan Grubb; uncle, Arthur, Leonard and Wayne; aunts, Betty, Glinda and Teresa.

Charles Albert McKee

Charles Albert McKee, age 82, of Knoxville passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on July 24, 2018. Charles was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of the U.S. Army and also a retired building contractor after many years.

Dale Kent "Red" Grizzell

Dale (Red) Grizzell-age 82 of Knoxville passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was of the Baptist faith. Dale served honorably in the United States Army August, 1953 to August, 1959. Following his active military service, Dale worked for Rohm and Haas Company in industrial maintenance until he retired in 1996. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 21 years, Margaret (Margie) Browning Grizzell; parents, Andrew and Ora Grizzell; brother, Andrew Grizzell.
