John L. Lewis

John L. Lewis – age 58 of Sharps Chapel, went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2018. He was of the Baptist faith. John was a self-employed mechanic for many years and a former employee of Clayton Homes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Lewis and Peggy Wells; three sisters; and eight brothers. John is survived by sisters, Letha Lewis, Clara (Tim) Dykes, Brenda (Bob) Keller, Sandra Eastridge and Dorothy (Vagelis) Makris; brother, Ronnie Lewis; and several nieces, nephews and family members.

Mary Helen (Marcum) Moore

Moore, Mary Helen (Marcum), "Mammaw" - age 84 of Mt. Juliet, TN entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Mrs. Moore was born on July 31, 1934 in Knoxville, TN. She was a devoted Christian and a true Servant of the Lord Jesus. She was retired from St. Mary's Medical Center and Walmart, and volunteered for several years after retirement at St. Mary's Medical Center as a Pink Lady. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Charles (Chuck) Douglas Moore; parents, Sam and Bessie Marcum, brothers; S.R.

James E. "Jim" Heath

James E. "Jim" Heath, age 91, of Powell went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2018. He was a 1949 graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College. He was a member of the United States Armed Forces for 4 years. He was employed by State Farm Insurance Company and retired after 31 years of service. He was a longtime member of Beaver Brook Country Club. He was an avid golfer, reader and Lady Vols enthusiast. He was baptized at an early age at Salem Baptist Church.

Susan Diane Davis

Susan Diane (Hopson) Davis-age 59 of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 28, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a loyal member of Ridgeview Heights Missionary Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd Clayton and Beulah Hopson.

Survived by her husband, Thurman Davis of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Christina “Chrissy” and Justin Kilby of Maynardville. Several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.

Jacob Keith "Jake' Walker

Jacob Keith “Jake” Walker-age 26 of Rutledge passed away 11:13 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. Jake was saved and baptized at the age of 15 at Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving father and was dearly loved by all who knew him. Preceded in death by son, Lincoln Walker; grandfather, Larry Walker; grandmother, Lorene Muncey; aunt, Lora Walker; cousin, Isaac Sutton.

Lillian Barger

Lillian A. Barger, age 78 of Powell left this world to pick up her wings Thursday September 27, 2018. She was a member of Bearden Gospel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband Charles, son Charlie, daughters Brenda and Laura, parents and many siblings.

Robert Greene

Robert L. Greene, age 79 of West Knoxville, passed away September 27, 2018. He was an employee of KUB for over 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bluegrass. Preceded in death by parents, Oscar and June Greene and brother, Kenneth Greene. Survived by wife Shirley Greene, son Robert H. Greene (Tami), daughter, Debra Yeatts (Rodney), grandchildren Robert L. Greene, Christian and Kaitlin Yeatts, brother, Danny Greene, and several nieces and nephews.

James Alexander Walden

James Alexander Walden, age 90, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was a member of Inskip Baptist Church for nearly 50 years and was a 32nd Degree Mason of The Bright Hope Lodge #557 F&A.M.. Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with a service following at 6:00 p.m. Reverend. Mike Seagers officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment.

Geneva Weaver Speaks

Geneva Weaver Speaks age 97 of Norris, Tennessee. Our beloved Granny was born March 5, 1921, and passed away at her home on September 26, 2018. She made a friend of everyone she met. She loved to travel, she loved to read and do craft work, and she loved her church; but most of all she loved her family. She had a lifelong love of travel and visited all 50 states and several foreign countries. We will always treasure the many hand-made gifts she made for us. She was a faithful member of Fairview Free Will Baptist Church, having attended services there for all of her adult life.

Jeremy Aaron Wampler

Jeremy Aaron Wampler left this earth on Monday, September 24, 2018 to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 34 years old.

Jeremy was a devoted husband, father, son, grandson, brother and friend. He was born in Knoxville on January 19,1984 and grew up in Powell near the family farm close to grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. It was where he developed his deep appreciation for the importance of family and a lifelong passion for the outdoors. Summers and weekends would find Jeremy somewhere outside, often at Douglas Lake with family and friends.

Glen E. Dyer

Glen E. Dyer-age 85 of Powder Springs went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith. Glen loved Union County and served the second district for many years as Justice of the Peace, County Commissioner, Road Commissioner and Constable. He was currently serving as a member of the Union County Beer Board. Glen also enjoyed farming and attending auctions. Glen was a former co-owner of Darrell’s Auction. Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Lola (Merritt) Dyer; brothers, Boyd Wayne Dyer and Bobby Dyer.

Lurtie Brewer

Lurtie Brewer-age 92 of Sharps Chapel went to Heaven Friday, September 21, 2018 at her home after battling an extensive illness. She is preceded in death by husband, Boyd Brewer; grandson, Billy Joe Turner; granddaughters, Connie Freeman, Maryann Cox; sons-in-law, Larry Cooper, Ray Martin and Bill Turner; three brothers and two sisters.

Curtis Wayne "Moose" Donahue

Curtis Wayne “Moose” Donahue-age 74 of Luttrell passed away Wednesday morning, September 19, 2018 at his home. He attended The Church of God of the Union Assembly in Luttrell. He was a retired drafter with Plasti-Line. Preceded in death by sons, Duane and Doyle Donahue; parents, John B. and Azalee Merritt Donahue; sister, Varnell Schaeffner; brothers, Radis, J. C., K. O., Benton, Tommy and Parnick Donahue.

Melvin Corum

Melvin Corum – age 78 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife of 60 years by his side on Saturday, September 15, 2018. He was a member of Fellowship Christian Church in Luttrell. He especially loved the yearly fall festival and The Life of Christ drive thru exhibit. Melvin was a dirt track race car driver and won many championship races during his career. His latest hobby was restoring vintage cars and trucks.

Glen C. Carmon, Sr.

Glen C. Carmon, Sr.-age 72 of Maynardville passed away Monday morning, September 17, 2018 at Willow Ridge Center. Glen was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and a U. S. Army Veteran. Preceded in death by parents, Thurman and Hester Carmon; brother, Ed Carmon; sister, Ina Carmon.

Survivors: son, Carroll Carmon of Maynardville; daughter, Jennifer Buckner and husband, Tony of Luttrell; three grandchildren, Kali Buckner, Caleb Carmon and Christian Carmon; sisters, Mary Campbell, Marie Johnson and Betty Williams, all of Maynardville. Several nieces and nephews.

George David "Dave" Murphy

George “Dave” David Murphy, Sr., age 63, of Powell went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2018. He was a member of Central View Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, raising pigs, and working. He adored his grandchildren. He loved helping people, as he would give you his last of anything. He was a selfless man of God. Preceded in death by parents Hobert and Christine Murphy; and brother Phillip Murphy. Survived by his wife of 45 years Kathy Murphy; children David Murphy, Jr.

Ermon T. Bullen, Jr.

Ermon T. Bullen, Jr.-May 2, 1932-Sept 14, 2018 of Corryton, known by everyone as Junior Bullen originally from Washburn, born to the late Ermon T. Bullen, Sr and Hila Johnson Bullen. Preceded in death by the love of his life of 58 years, Mildred Marsee Bullen. Junior was an Army Veteran and retired maintenance man from Claiborne County Hospital. He also loved traveling with Mamaw, watching grandkids and great grandkids at sporting events, plays and such and faithfully attended church where he was a member at Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Carl Edward Fielden

Carl Edward Fielden, age 84 of Halls Crossroads, peacefully entered into his eternal rest in the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on September 15, 2018. Saved by God's merciful grace as a young man, Carl was a faithful member of Emory Valley Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force, honorably. He retired from Fairmont Supply located in Nashville, Tennessee. Preceded in death by parents Hobert and Amy Fielden, son Greg Fielden, all of Heiskell, sister Ann Tudor of Manchester, sister Geneieve Humphrey and brother Rev. Glen Fielden, all of Knoxville.

Raymond Eugene Clark

Raymond Eugene Clark age 71, of Knoxville went to be with with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was a member of Texas Valley Baptist Church. Raymond lived most of his life in the Halls Community and was an avid sports fan of all Halls community and school sports teams. He was often thought of as the Honorary “Mayor” and Cheerleader of the Halls Community. Preceded in death by parents; Jack Raymond and Allene Wooten Clark. Survivors; sisters, Rosalee Clark Highland and Diane Clark Woods. Brother; Phillip David Clark.

James Warren "J.W." Hughes

James Warren "J.W." Hughes, age 82, of Halls Crossroads went to his heavenly home, Thursday morning, surrounded by his family. He was a member of Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Jefferson Smurfit Corp. J.W. loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and camping.

He is preceded in death by parents, C.M and Mary Hughes; and brother-in-law, Leon Spangler.
