Otis Beal, Jr.

Otis Beal, Jr., age 79 of Knoxville, passed away at 6:45pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was retired from KCDC. He was a member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church and the Good News Sunday School Class. Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Otis, Sr. and Ona Beal; daughter, Tina Beal Maxwell; and sister, Joyce Burton.

Rev. Daniel Warwick, Sr.

Rev. Daniel Warwick, Sr.-age 87 of Blaine passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Fort Sander’s Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Little Valley Baptist Church. Preceded in death by wife, Loretta Warwick; son and daughter-in-law, Grady and Pauline Warwick; granddaughter, Danielle Warwick; grandson, Jason Warwick. All of Daniel’s brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Johnny Ray Hedge, Sr.

Johnny Ray Hedge, Sr.-age 72 of Washburn passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 of natural causes. Johnny was born November 21, 1946 in Bridgeport, Illinois the son of the late Edgar and Elizabeth Hedge. He married Brenda Joyce Chancellor Hedge twice (1964/1981). Johnny was a longtime employee of Hammond Lead Products in Hammond, Indiana until he retired in 1997 due to health reasons. Johnny moved from Gary, Indiana to Fort Gibson, Oklahoma in 2000. Johnny moved to Washburn, TN in 2005. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James (Bud) and Brenda Hedge.

Walter Michael Darden

Walter Michael Darden, age 76, passed away August 18, 2019. Mike was a plumber by trade for over 50 years. He loved fishing and his time on the lake. Preceded in death by parents; father Walter James Darden and mother Florida Mae Darden, sister Judy Darden. He is survived by daughter Sherri Darden, sons; Mike Darden (Peggy), Jody Darden and Tommy Darden (Cindy) brother; Jim Darden (Evelyn), several grandchildren and great grandchildren, honorary daughter Missy Beeler, special friends; Gene McMillian, Hubert Weaver, Johnny Stafford, Larry Greenlee, Dennis Drinnon and Mary Mease.

Goldie Langley

Goldie Langley – age 79 of Maynardville, went to meet her Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 17, 2019. She was a member of Oaks Chapel American Christian Church. Goldie enjoyed the outdoors doing her yard work and cherished her time with her family.

Jake Lee Nicely

Jake Lee Nicely-age 63 of Luttrell, born February 27, 1956 passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 at Willow Ridge. He was a member of Emory Road Baptist Church. Preceded in death by wife, Betty Nicley; mothers, Maude Nicely and Hazel Strevel; father, Neil Brown; brothers, Jim Nicely, Reo Strevel, Tom Strevel; niece, Samantha Chamberlain; nephews, Chucky Roach and Johnny Strevel.

Guy William Merritt

Guy William Merritt, age 67 of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019. He was an accomplished athlete throughout his entire life. He attended West High School and graduated from Farragut High School in 1970. He later attended Roane State Community College. He served his country with distinction in the United States Army for 28 years, starting with a tour in Vietnam in 1970. He proudly served as a member of the 11th Armored Calvary, 101st Airborne, and Pukin’ Dragons.

Georgia J. Moore Cole

Georgia J. Moore Cole-age 89 of Sharps Chapel passed away Thursday morning, August 15, 2019 at Beverly Park Place. She was born February 23, 1930 in Union County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Ebb and Belle Shoffner Moore. On May 3, 1950, she married the love of her life, Beecher Cole. She retired from Delco in Kokomo, Indiana in 1985. She was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church and attended Amana Baptist Church in Kokomo, Indiana where she had lived until moving back to Sharps Chapel, Tennessee three years ago.

L. D. Monroe

L. D. Monroe – age 87 of Maynardville, passed away August 12, 2019 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a longtime member and former deacon of First Baptist Church of Maynardville. L. D. was retired from South Central Bell and from Union County Schools as a school bus driver.

Opal A. Cooper

Opal A. Cooper-age 79 of Maynardville passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019. She was a member of Alder Springs Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Johnny and Ruth Raley; brother, John Harvey Raley; Sons, Mark and Tony Cooper.

Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Thelma (Clyde) Beeler, Velma Nease, Cynthia (Bill) Hensley; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack (Kathy) Cooper, Richard Cooper. Five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. Brother and sister-in-law, James (Diane) Raley; sister and brother-in-law, Linda (Joe) McCoy.

Pauline "Polly" Dyer

E. Pauline “Polly” Dyer-age 93 of Maynardville passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 at her home. She was the oldest living member of Hubbs Grove Baptist Church and a retired Union County School Teacher having taught at Paulette, Burkhart and Maynardville Elementary Schools. She spent her many years of retirement caring for her flower gardens. She was preceded in death by parents, H. I., Sr. and Dena (Koch) Raley; sisters, Dorothy Raley, Evelyn Raley, Edith Kitts and Geneva Lay; brother, Raymond Lewis Raley.

Lovite Louise Dalton

Lovite “Louise” Dalton – age 40 of Blaine, passed away on August 4, 2019. She is preceded in death by her father, John Bernard and son, Dustin Dalton. Louise is survived by her daughters, Katie Bernard and Emily Dalton; mother, Brenda Bernard; brothers, William Bernard, Jimmy Bernard, Robert Bernard and John Bernard, Jr.

Vontella Louise (Lay) Cole

Vontella Louise (Lay) Cole-age 75 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at her home. She was a member of Community Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Virgie Lay; also preceded in death by daughter, Barbara Baker; son, Keith Baker; brothers, A. J. Lay, Elvin “Preach” Lay, Junior Lay, Ralph Lay and sister, Amy Lynch.

Charles B. Clouse

Charles B. Clouse- age 60 of Sharps Chapel passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Willow Ridge Center in Maynardville. He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Ray Clouse.

He is survived by his mother; Margaret Harvey; brother Ricky L. Clouse both of Sharps Chapel; niece Marla Amy Griffey of New Market; nephew Joey Clouse of Strawberry Plains.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville in charge of arrangements.

Vivan Louise Chesney

Vivian Louise Chesney- age 64 of Luttrell passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at her home. She was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Vivian was born to the late James (Jim) Griffin and Bertha Griffin. She is also preceded in death by her father-in-law Richard (Dick) Chesney; brothers Donnie and Michael Griffin; and sister Jane Lakin.

Henry Howard Farrington

Henry Howard Farrington, age 86, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019. Howard was born December 11, 1932 to Walter and Agnes Farrington. He was of Baptist faith and was Deacon and member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by parents Walter and Agnes Farrington; brother R.L. Farrington; and grandsons Nathan W. Farrington and John Howard Rader.

William Randall George

William Randall George – age 10 of Maynardville, joined his dad, Randall Allen George, grandmother, Pauline George and grandfather, Jimmy Haggard in the presence of the Lord on Friday, July 26, 2019. William survives as a hero, donating both of his kidneys to two children. William was saved at Vacation Bible School on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 and will be remembered by his smile that brightened a room and his pitch that made the world stand still.

Edward R. Brock

Edward R. Brock, age 83, passed away July 26, 2019. He retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol after 25 years of service. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of Arlington Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by wife of 43 years, Janice and daughter-in-law Karen.

Survived by sons Gregg and Geoff (Lisa); grandson Dusty (Emily); granddaughters Micah and Jordon; great grandsons Hudson and Gavin; great granddaughter Nealie; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty Lou Arnwine

Betty Lou Arnwine-age 86 of Maynardville passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Claiborne Health and Rehab Center. Betty worked at Kirkland’s Country Kitchen for several years. Preceded in death by son, Ronald Arnwine; daughters, Linda Sizemore and Pam Loy; grandson, Blake Arnwine; parents, Rev. Floyd and Eva Arnwine; brothers, Charlie and Bill Arnwine; sisters, Polly Karns and Sue Arnwine; sons-in-law, Bob Sizemore and Dennis Loy.

Ralph Wesley "Wes" Myers

Ralph Wesley “Wes” Myers age 54, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Uncle and Grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motor cycle. He tolerated the cats but loved the dogs. He was preceded in death by parents Scout and Mary Myers. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Kim Myers, daughter Jessica (Brandon) Bales, sons Johnathan Myers and Jordan Almond, Grandchildren; Ari, William, Richard and Ellie, Nieces and Nephews; Joseph, Hunter, Logan and Madison. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
