In the World, Not of the World? Part 3

Context is KING and so is Jesus. As the Word made flesh, Jesus was not at a loss for words when he began to pray about His Passion and for His disciples, who in a little over 50 days from Jesus’ prayer in John 17, would be sent out into the world on their own, to do greater works than Jesus did (John 14:12). Well, appearances can be deceiving! Before we continue examining Jesus prayer, we need to finish our look at the context of 2 Corinthians 6:17, like we promised last time.

How is a Chiropractic Adjustment Performed?

Chiropractic adjustment, or manipulation, is a manual procedure that utilizes the highly refined skills developed during the doctor of chiropractic’s intensive years of chiropractic education. The chiropractic physician typically uses his or her hands—or sometimes an instrument—to manipulate the joints of the body, particularly the spine, in order to restore or enhance joint function. This often helps resolve joint inflammation and reduces the patient’s pain.

Fairy Rings: Mysterious Mushrooms

I’ve seen two postings with photos of Fairy Rings on Facebook this week, so there is an apparent outbreak of them, likely caused by all the rain we’ve gotten lately. Fairy rings are those peculiar sprouting up of mushrooms in a well-defined arc or circular pattern. This has caused a lot of myths about their origin to sprout up over the centuries, but there is an explanation as to what’s going on with the rings.

Oatmeal Crisps

This is a good cookie recipe for those who are gluten intolerant. It is a little tricky to make, but even at your first attempt if the cookies break up when you take them off the cookie sheet, they will still taste good. Add ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans for added flavor.

Lots of Fiddlin Around at Heritage Festival

The 14th Annual Union County Heritage Festival is loaded with ways to fiddle around on Saturday, October 6. With three venues and three music stages, there are sights, sounds, and activities for all ages. The 2018 Festival kicks off a two year tribute to Roy Acuff, Maynardville native and country music legend, who was hailed as the King of Country Music. The theme of Fiddlin’ Around reminds us of the importance of leisure time as well as Acuff’s favorite instrument.

Mayor Bailey Looks Ahead

On Saturday, August 25, 2018, Dr. Jason Bailey was sworn into office as Mayor of Union County. I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Bailey to discuss his ideas and plans for the county. After our discussion, it became obvious that Dr. Bailey and HistoricUnionCounty.com have one goal in common: to promote all the positive attributes of Union County.

Union County Plans Post Secondary Education

I recently sat down with the Director of Schools, Dr. Jimmy Carter, Union County High School’s CTE Director, Brian Shoffner, and Union County High School Teacher, Danny Satterfield, to talk about a new and exciting program called TCAT. The funny little acronym stands for Tennessee College of Applied Technology. TCAT is a post-secondary educational opportunity for graduating high school students as well as adults with a high school diploma or GED wanting vocational training.

Fiddling Around

“Fiddling Around” is the theme of this year’s Union County Heritage Festival to be held on Oct. 6th, at Wilson Park, and it is also the title of the 2018 Festival Collectible Print. When asked to paint something to go along with this year’s theme, it didn’t take me long to come up with an idea.
