Marie Rhyne worked to grow the program to serve around 600 children. The Union County Heritage Festival administers the current program which provides books each month to some 800 children from birth to their fifth birthday.
Chantay Collins, director of Maynardville Public library, is the coordinator.
Other donations have been received from the Union County Commission, the Union County Public Schools, the City of Luttrell, and the City of Maynardville along with some individual citizens.
Thousands of children in Union County have benefited from receiving and reading these books for over a decade.
