Carmel Turnip Slices
Do you like turnips? I know you like turnip greens, but the root can be a star as well. You will be amazed with the flavor when you saute turnip slices in brown sugar and butter.
CARAMEL TURNIP SLICES
1 large turnip, about 1 1/2 pounds
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Peel turnip and cut in 1/2 inch slices. Cook in boiling water until almost tender, about 25 minutes. Don't overcook. Drain. Melt butter in large skillet over low heat. Stir in brown sugar. Add turnip slices. Cool, turning frequently, until slices are glazed. Makes 3 or 4 servings.
