Announcing Uniquely Union a new video series
There is a new weekly video series airing on www.HistoricUnionCounty.com called “Uniquely Union.”
The show is hosted by Dr. Ronnie Mincey, a long-time contributor to the website and newspaper. You may have read his column “Mincey's Musings”. In this new video series, Mincey conducts interviews with Union County residents and business people that have helped make our county the great place it is to live and work.
The journey leading to this new series begin as a hobby back in January of 2015 when a website was started featuring some history as well as news and events.
In April of 2017, the site was relaunched with a new design and is now known as HistoricUnionCounty.com. A magazine followed in November of 2017 and not long after that a newspaper was published in March of 2018.
In September of 2018, Historic Union County newspaper and website started providing coverage of county meetings with its first live stream of the September commission meeting. The following July, as a service to the community, a census video was created explaining the importance of taking the census and the impact it has on Union County. The video has been viewed over eight thousand times.
Since then, video coverage has been expanded to cover several county meetings and events. Now with the addition of a studio offering professional-quality audio and video, the stage has been set for the “Uniquely Union” series.
The “Uniquely Union” series come about six months ago with the idea of conducting video interviews. We wanted to highlight the people and businesses that have made and continue to make Union County great. When thinking of who would be best suited to conduct these interviews, it didn't take long for Dr. Ronnie Mincey to come to mind. I've known Mincey for around 15 years and I don't suppose he has ever met a stranger. He has a passion and a wealth of knowledge for Union County and its citizens, history, and current events. Add to this his extensive background in the Union County education system and it is easy to see that he is a great host for this segment.
We started recording in January of this year and have several episodes ready for release. Some of our guests you will be seeing include David Coppock, chair of the Union County School Board; Bonnie Heiskell Peters, author and Union County Historian; Danny Cooke, commissioner and one of three founders of the Union County Opry; Martin Shafer, president of Union County Business and Professional Association; Union County Mayor Dr. Jason Bailey; former Tennessee Representative, Senator and Mayor of Union County Mike Williams; and Commissioner Gary England, just to name a few. We are in the process of scheduling more with a list too exhaustive to name.
The first episode of “Uniquely Union” is available for viewing on our website now.
