School Board to use COVID-19 money to fund summer school with transportation

The impact of COVID-19 on learning, especially in elementary reading and math, continues to be a concern for Union County as well as our state and nation. To mitigate some of the pandemic's impact on learning, Dr. Jimmy Carter announced at the March Union County Board of Education meeting that summer school will be from June 1 through June 25 with a maximum class size of eighth students per teacher.

Other lives matter

I don’t like wearing a mask. I doubt that anyone does.
Having stayed home because of the Safer at Home and Stay at Home orders in March and April, I have had little reason to. But breaking my foot on May 9 forced me into healthcare facilities, giving rise to the need for wearing a mask.

Coronavirus – Bringing it Home!

Coronavirus, aka COVID-19: I hope we have all got the message by now; after all, we’ve been implored by our leaders to stay home, to keep our distance, and to wash our hands repeatedly. Our president, our governor, our religious leaders, even national celebrities are calling for us to hunker down and embrace solitude for a season. I know this is very counter-culture for us, we relish opportunities to come together for all kinds of reasons; but now is the time to withdraw, just for a little while.
