Oklahoma City 25 years ago
Submitted by Susan Kite on Tue, 04/07/2020 - 01:38It has been almost 25 years since the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. While this is not a Tennessee event, it is something that should not be forgotten. At 9:02 a.m., on April 19th, 1995, a U-Haul truck, parked in front of the building, exploded, tearing apart the entire front of the multi-storied structure. The explosion killed 168 people, including 19 children. Almost 700 people were injured. Many other buildings were either damaged or destroyed. The face of downtown Oklahoma City was changed forever . . . and so were her people.
