William Carl “Bill” Gray – age 62 of Maynardville, went home to be with his Heavenly Father 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 5th 2024. He was a member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church. Graduate of Horace Maynard High School class of 1980. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Carl Gray and June Ruth Smith Gray; sisters, Dana Smith, Judy Sexton; brothers-in-law, Steven Sexton, Bob Sexton, Tim Houston; father-in-law, Fred Hackney; nephew, Jason Houston.

Bill is survived by the love of his life for 43 years wife, Sue Gray; precious little dogs, Susie and Bud; sister, Patti Sexton; mother-in-law, Bessie Hackney; several nieces and nephews; Joey Smith who was like a son to him, Ralph Hackney and Kenneth Middleton who were like brothers to him. The family would like to say thank you to all of the doctors and nurses with Amedisys Hospice, and a very special thank you to Dr. Fred Hurst and nurse Irene, and to Mike Linebarger for being a good friend and for all of his help. A special thank you to everyone at Hickory Valley Baptist Church for everything you all have done for the family.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M., officiated by Rev. Josh Jones and Rev. Corey Hackney, music by Hickory Valley Baptist Church Choir. Interment will be at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Yadon Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. on Friday to go with the funeral procession. Pallbearers will be, Jimmy Norris, Michael (Gator) Wilson, Ralph Hackney, Joey Smith, Jeffery Smith, Randy Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be, Douglas Hackney, Ralph Johnson, Cody Godsey, Donnie Munsey, Cody Hackney, Bradley Sexton. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbel Mortuary in Maynardville.
