Wayne Morris Hopkins, Sr.-age 80 of Sharps Chapel passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, February 23, 2022 at his home. He considered Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Sharps Chapel his home church. He retired as a mechanical engineer with General Electric. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather as well as the backbone of the family. Preceded in death by parents, Clifton A. and Fannie (Reeves) Hopkins.

Survivors: wife of 59 years, Joyce Ann (Cotton) Hopkins; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne, Jr. and Tina Hopkins; grandson, Ryan Hopkins, all of Sharps Chapel; granddaughter, Melissa Hopkins and fiancé, Chance Trimble of Indiana; brother, Jerry Hopkins and wife, Robert of Florida. Three nephews, Jerry, Timmy and Todd Hopkins along with a host of friends.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022 with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. Thursday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Michael Bailey officiating with music by Diane Lay. Interment 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Sharps Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home to go with the funeral procession. Pallbearers: Wayne M. Hopkins, Jr., Ryan Hopkins, Michael Bailey, Reggie Cain, Mark Warwick, Ken McFetridge. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
