Walter Henderson Seymour

Walter Henderson Seymour-age 85 of Maynardville passed away Wednesday evening, April 2, 2025, at Claiborne Medical Center. He was a Christian of the Baptist faith. He served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. Walter was a kind and generous person who was a friend to all. He Loved Union County and was a well-known businessman in Maynardville. Walter served many years as a member of the Union County School Board and a third district Union County Commissioner. Walter was class president of the 1957 graduating class of Horace Maynard High School. He enjoyed being with his family and friends on Norris Lake. He loved to travel and drove many miles with Seymour Charter Bus-line. Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Doris Ann Greene Seymour; son, Stacy Seymour; daughter, Karen Seymour; his parents, Charles Henderson Seymour and Retha Hurst Seymour; brother, Swan Seymour; sisters, Ann Shoffner Malone, Irene Smith, Betty Woods, JoAnn Brewer and husband, Junior Brewer, infant brother, Charles Edward Seymour.
He is survived by his son, Mark Seymour; daughter, Maria Seymour; grandson, Blake Buckner who Walter raised; grandsons, Allen Seymour, Thomas Seymour; great grandchildren, Waylon Charles Seymour, Judson Seymour; special niece, Tammy Bowman and several other nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
Family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM, officiated by Rev. Fred Goodson and Rev. Tim Sharp, music by Rev. Richard and Linda Nicley, Beulah Moore, Kelly Cunningham. Interment service will be 10:45 AM Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home to go with the procession. Military rites by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Mark Seymour, Blake Buckner, Allen Seymour, Thomas Seymour, Derek Bowman, Kelly Smith. Honorary pallbearers: Raymond Buckner, David Lay, Scott Gilbert, Jimmy Stiner, Mark Gilbert, Don Brantley, Ray Bowman, Jim Bridges. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville.
