Virgie Opal Corum

Virgie “Opal” Corum – age 91 of Maynardville, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 9, 2017. Opal was a member of Miller’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she was very active in the children’s Sunday School classes along with many other church activities. She is a retired employee of Standard Knitting Mills and worked with the Union County Senior Citizen Center.

Opal is preceded in death by her husband, Troy Corum; parents, Clella and Viola Osborne; son, Johnny Corum; and brother, Clarence Osborne. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Coppock and Mary Nell Varner; grandchildren, Leo Darrell (Farrah) Coppock, Jr., Johnny Dewayne Corum, Christopher Allen (Hanley) Coppock and Paula (Allen) Applewhite; great grandchildren, Sherae (Elvis) Kirkland, Johnny Darrell, Scarlett, Noah, Taylor, Trevor, Blake and Carter Coppock; great-great grandchild, Raiden Kirkland; several nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Tiny.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Reverend John Teffeteller and Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October, 14, 2017 at Trinity Funeral Home to go in procession to Miller Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service.
