Vern Wallace Lowry – age 93 of Maynardville, passed away peacefully March 22, 2022. Vern grew up in Loyall, Kentucky where he loved his family, fishing and baseball. He served as a teletype operator during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska, then worked for Commercial Credit for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. Vern was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Masons. He was a dedicated Christian and servant to his church at First Baptist Church in Loyall and then Crossroads Presbyterian Church. Vern was a dedicated husband, father, brother and friend to all those close to him. He always made time to sit down for dinner every night with his family and loving wife, Betty of 62 years who passed away October 16, 2020. Our hearts are overjoyed to know Dad is once again with Mom.

He is preceded in death by wife, Betty Lowry; parents, John and Mae Lowry; and siblings, Ruth Howard, Jean Durham, Paul Lowry and Naomi Napier. Vern is survived by children, Wally (Melanie) Lowry, Randy (Kristin) Lowry, Betsy (Mike) Lowe and Rusty (Penny) Lowry; grandchildren, Lake (Danielle) Lowry, Quinton (Amber) Lowry, Ty (Madison) Lowry, Faith (Zach) Longmire, Alex (Presley) Pursiful, Abby Pursiful, Leslie (Alex Hood) Lowry and Logan Lowry; great grandchildren, Emersyn and Aybree Lowry, Sadie Brook and Baylor Lowry, Lettie Jo Lowry, and Laelynn and Brylon Longmire. The family is appreciative of longtime neighbors who are like family.

The family will receive friends 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2022 in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. The service to follow with Reverend David Maude officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022 in Greenwood Cemetery for a 11:00 a.m. graveside service with Military Rites to be conducted by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be made to the Union County Senior Center or Halls Crossroads Presbyterian Church.
