Sheila Jane (Sherritze) Best-age 70 of Morristown passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was born November 26, 1954, in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee. She attended Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Sharps Chapel. She loved to sing and play the piano with her family, The Sherritze Family Singers. Sheila was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1972 and was a retired employee of Belk’s of Morristown. Preceded in death by husband, Charlie Best; parents, Luna and Nelle (Shoffner) Sherritze; brothers, Wade and Finna Sherritze; George and Ann Sherritze; Charles “Rattler” Sherritze and Earl Lynn Sherritze; sisters, Mary Alice Keck and husband, Paris; Faye Howe; special sister-in-law, Irene Sherritze.

Survivors: daughter, Kara Smallwood and husband Josh; three grandchildren, Colton Michael Knox, Corbin McCoy Stocks and Skyler Smallwood, all of Dallas, Georgia; sister-in-law, Loretta Sherritze. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends. Special friends, Michelle Scarborough and Judy Kesterson.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Jerry McBee officiating with music by The Sherritze Family and Rev. Jerry McBee. Eulogy by Michelle Scarborough. Interment 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Phillip Keck Cemetery, New Tazewell. Family and friends will meet 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to go with the procession. Pallbearers: Mark Sexton, Kevin Sherritze, Randy Sherritze, Chad Boruff, Earl Loy, Jr., Tim Sherritze.
