Roy Lee Sands-age 65 of Washburn passed away Friday evening, June 23, 2023, at U. T. Medical Center. He was saved at an early age and was a Christian. Preceded in death by parents, Emmett and Hettie (Nicley) Sands; brother, Roger Sands.

Survivors: wife of 43 years, Debbie Sue (Collins) Sands; daughters, Patricia Hickman, Peggy Cox; son, Emmett Lee Sands; three grandchildren, Keshia Hickman, Justin Hickman and Michael Cox; two sisters, Ella Joe Bunch, Helen Ruth Sands; one brother, James Robert Sands. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023, with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Sunday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Jimmy Frye officiating with music by Rev. Richard and Linda Nicley. Interment 2 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2023, at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Washburn. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 1 p.m. Monday to go with the funeral procession. Pallbearers: Larry Nicley, Larry Bunch, Tim Nicely, Robert Jordan, Josh Suffridge, Scott Nicley, Honorary Pallbearers: Michael Cox, Bill Sexton.
