Robert Jerry Atkins

Robert Jerry Atkins - age 74 of Washburn, passed away on Saturday May 18th, 2024 at his home. He was born on November 17, 1949. He was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from the University of Tennessee as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He farmed most of his life and enjoyed raising cattle. He was great with horses and enjoyed showing and racing horses in many events. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Renee Scearce; parents, Willam (Bill) C. Atkins and Jessie Collins Atkins; sisters, Evelyn Jean Collins, Dorothy Janette Rose, Helen Bernice Dalton; brothers, Willam Clay Atkins, Donald Ray Atkins, Douglas Dean Atkins, Carson Enoch Atkins, Morris Wayne Atkins, Henry Curtis Atkins, Denver Odel Atkins.

Jerry is survived by his son, Jarrod Atkins; daughter, Holly Monger; grandchildren, Colton Atkins, Cody Atkins, Briley Burch; sister, Betty Faye Sewell; brother, David Michael Atkins; a host of other family and friends. The family would like to express a special thanks to Tonya Dice and Sue Young for making my father’s last few months easier.

Family will revive friends 5-7 PM on Tuesday May 21, 2024 with the funeral service to follow at 7 PM at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Greg Hurst officiating with music by Johnson’s Chapel Singers. Interment will be 3 PM Wednesday May 22, 2024 at Atkins Cemetery, Powder Springs. Pallbearers will be Jarrod Atkins, Colton Atkins, Cody Atkins, Kevin Atkins, Victor Atkins, Verlyn Dalton. Family and friends will meet at 2 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home to go with the funeral procession. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville.
