Richard Wayne Crist, Sr.
Richard Wayne Crist, Sr. – age 79 of Maynardville, passed away at his home Sunday, August 22, 2021. Born in Phoenix, Arizona on July 11, 1942, he graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1960 where he excelled in the Future Farmers of America program. Rich was married to his wife, Pamela Joyce Bourland for 60 years. He had several careers throughout his life including long haul truck driving and running an upholstery business. However, none were as rewarding as the 29 years he spent in the Biblical Counselling field, and most recently the 5 years spent investing in the lives of the men and women of the Knoxville Area Rescue Mission. He loved cooking for his family and friends and couldn’t help but share the Gospel with all he came in contact with faithfully praying for others every day.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick James Crist; and brother, Ken Crist. Rich is survived by his wife, Pam Crist of Maynardville; children, Rich Crist, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Rebecca Murphy and her husband Dale, Tami Starkel and her husband John, and Dawn Jenkins and her husband Chuck; ten grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren with two on the way; and his sister, Evelyn Brown.
The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., in Corryton Church, 7615 Foster Road, Corryton, Friday, August 27, 2021. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet 10:00 a.m., at Trinity Funeral Home to go in procession to New Loyston Memorial Gardens, Hickory Valley Road, Andersonville, located 1/8th mile west of Hwy. 61 crossing in Maynardville, Saturday, August 28, 2021 for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
