Rev. A. R. Baumgardner
Rev. Albert Richard (Dick) Baumgardner-age 83 of Washburn went to be with his Lord Friday morning, September 30, 2022 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab. He was a retired minister of the Gospel and a former pastor of Cedar Ford Baptist Church serving for 32 years; a graduate of Carson-Newman University and Southern Seminary. He served in and retired from the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He had 22 years of service with the Army, the last two years, he served as security for Air Force One. He also served seven years of duty with the Fairfax County, Virginia Police Department. Preceded in death by his wife, Sue Baumgardner in 2018; parents, John Richard and Katherine (Lewis) Baumgardner; brother, Dr. James Baumgardner.
Survivors: son, Johnny Baumgardner; three brothers, Larry Baumgardner and wife, Brenda; Jerry Baumgardner and wife, Wanda; Gary Baumgardner and wife, Debbie. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2022 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Monday, Cedar Ford Baptist Church, Luttrell Rev. Leroy Franklin, Rev. Jeff Leach officiating with congregational singing. Military graveside rites presented by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Eastview Memorial Gardens, Strawberry Plains. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers: Will Bunch, Rev. Jeff Leach, John Christian Chandler, Blake Spires, Josh Collins, Tony Whitson, Dennis Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers: Paul Baumgardner, Brian French, David Widner, Michael Riffey. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
