Patten, Sally

Sally Marie Habermacher Patten was born March 30, 1949, in Houston, Texas, and died on June 18, 2023, at her home in Powder Springs, Tennessee after an extended illness. Before she and her husband moved to Powder Springs, she was an insurance underwriter for AIG Insurance in Dallas, Texas. After moving, she converted to the Catholic Church and was instrumental in the establishment of both Saint Teresa of Kolkata Church in Maynardville and Saint John Paul II Mission in Rutledge, she worked as the secretary and administrator for both churches at her own expense for the first 6 years. She loved her church life and was active in all parts of it. Whenever she first met people, regardless of their background, they would leave thinking that they were the most important people around just by the love and respect with which she treated them.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Chuck Patten of Powder Springs, and sons, Sean Sumrall of Alaska, and Stephen Sumrall of California. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Lydia Sumrall of Minnesota, and grandsons, Houston Sumrall of Alaska, and Austin Sumrall of Washburn.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Teresa of Kolkata Church in Maynardville. Visitation will be held at the church at 9:00 a.m. prior to services. She will be interred in Blue Bonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas to be alongside her husband when his time comes.
