Monteray Sharp

Monteray Sharp-age 72 of Wilton Manors community of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, formerly of Sharps Chapel, Tennessee passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Holy Cross Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was a member of Taylor’s Grove Baptist Church, Sharps Chapel, Tennessee.
Monte was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1969. He lived and worked as a barber in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for 30 plus years. Preceded in death by his parents, Pascal (Big Eye) Sharp and Alma (Sowder) Sharp; brothers, Ralph Sharp, James Claudie Sharp; sisters, Bessie Jane Johnson, Dottie Williams and Hilda Braden; nephew, Mike Sharp.
Survived by brothers, Luna (Martha) Sharp of Maynardville; Bob Sharp of Sharps Chapel; special brother, Fred West of Sharps Chapel; sisters, Lorene Collins of Sharps Chapel; Joyce (Wayne) Lee of New Tazewell Brother and sisters-in-law, James Braden, Mildred Sharp and Angela Sharp. Special niece, Melissa (Phillip) Shockley of New Tazewell. Numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Special Florida friends, Steven Jacobson and Byron Byers along with Monte’s co-workers at the Gentlemen Quarters Barber Shop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Family will receive friends 4-6 pm Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary with funeral service to follow at 6:00 pm, Rev. Wade Brantley, Rev. Kim Collingsworth, Rev. Tim Sharp officiating. Family will meet at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024 to go in procession to Brogan Family Cemetery, New Tazewell, for a 2:00 pm interment, pallbearers will be, Steve Collins, Stanley Collins, Rick Johnson, Ted Miller, Justin Sharp, Tim Sharp, Phillip Shockley, Garry Lee. Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville in charge.
