Lynda Sue “Irick” Cox-age 80 of Maynardville born November 24, 1944 passed away peacefully Saturday, March 8, 2025 at her home. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was a retired pharmacy tech of 25 years with Rite Aid Pharmacy, Maynardville. Lynda was a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1961. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Preston “Buck” Cox; parents, Clayton and Opal (Raley) Irick; sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Wayne Shoffner; brother-in-law, Edgar Cook.

Survivors: son, J.P. (Elizabeth) Cox; daughter, Susan (Rex) Nuchols; former son-in-law, Tony Stanley; seven grandchildren, Melanie (Josh) Collins, Aaron (Madisun) Stanley, Spencer Cox, Jessica Nuchols, Kasey (Tony) Martin, Matthew (Bailey) Nuchols, Hannah Nuchols; two great-grandchildren, Beckley Dalton and Noah James Nuchols. Sisters, Janice Cook, Myra (Jerry) Beeler. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, Lynda request memorial donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. St.Jude.org is the official website.

At Lynda’s request, only a graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville, Rev. Doug Munsey, Rev. Brian Cooke officiating with music by the Cedar Grove Quartet. Please meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers: J. P.
