Keith Lucas
Keith Lucas- age 65 of Maynardville, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Selfless; Keith had no complaints and fixed things that were broken. He loved his Mother and cared for her every day. He was a great father; Keith knew how to compromise, co - parent and make things work for his children. Keith only worked seven days a week because there were not more days he could work. Electrician; heating and air; plumbing; Keith could complete any job that needed a trade service or needed innovation. He could complete many other skilled tasks, but he did not advertise for those. Keith fixed his own trucks, other folk’s cars and trucks, their houses, their floors, roofs, and anything in between. He gave people love. He gave people jobs. Keith did not know who an outcast was. Keith was not materialistic, but he used all sorts of new and used material to fix the problems others had. Keith believed in God and Jesus Christ; he prayed often and always wanted his children and others to believe in Jesus. He did not own many new things. He recycled; he would fix old equipment with new and used parts, and he’d fix used parts with used parts. Keith was innovative and looked at objects and life with an intelligent eye. Keith was a serious man; at the same time, Keith was a lot of fun, to say the least. He laughed. He smiled. He joked. Everyone knew him, and if you knew him, you loved him; Keith would love you back and would demonstrate his love through his efforts. Keith was born on March 1st, 1959 and raised on Capri Street in the Parkway Village area of Memphis, Tennessee. His Father was Jerry Edward Lucas, businessman and politician, and his Mother is Harriet Faye Lucas, who was a saleswoman, a great wife, and even better mother. Keith has two siblings: his older brother, Jerry Edward Lucas, Jr., and his younger sister, Tyra Lucas Spears. Keith married twice: first to Sharon Kaye Lucas then to Brooke Lucas, and had two sets of two children. His first child was a daughter, Laura Nicole Lucas; next, was his Son, Austin Brett Lucas; then came another son, Keith Ewing Lucas; and lastly another daughter, Dayna Leigh Lucas. Keith had two grandchildren: Madison Nicole Minyard and Keeley Shaye Cox; and one great granddaughter, Ellie Renae Bramlett. Keith truly cared about his Mother and all of his children; he showed it by his actions. In between jobs, Keith enjoyed golf; he was handy around the greens. If he got hot on the course, it was really special to witness. Keith liked the Vols - mostly Football and Basketball; he would listen to the games on the radio while working. Fearless; Keith was not afraid of a gamble, a fight or pulling someone out of a burning car. Keith, a natural with trigonometry and advanced algebra, attended Sheffield High School in Memphis. Keith scored in the top one percent on an aptitude test that allowed him to train in the Aircraft Maintenance program at Memphis International Airport while in high school. He attended Memphis State University for a while. Keith and his family moved to Maynardville, Tennessee in the late 70s. After settling with his family, Keith worked for his Father in construction, building homes. In Keith’s early 20s, he lost his Father. He did not talk much about him. He kept his emotions to himself because it was not beneficial to working and getting things done. He loved his family, his friends, and he loved a lot of others who needed things fixed or needed a job; or sometimes needed a friend or ear. Keith was loyal; not only to the people he loved, but to the people and businesses related to his work. In the summer and the winter, Keith would prioritize his jobs based on the age of the person in the home that needed their heat or air to be fixed. Keith would fix your toilet, your sink or your lawnmower. He enjoyed the ability to take on the role of a fixer of things. That ability gave Keith purpose, and he wanted people to depend on him. And they did. Keith’s phone rang all day, every day, even during golf. Keith would not put a barrier on people being able to reach him. Keith drank beer, but did not like to drink liquor unless it was in a margarita. Again, Keith could be a lot of fun. Keith did not own an animal, but all dogs and cats loved the man too. It was as if, even they could sense the presence of his kindness. Keith was a great man. Keith was human. Keith Lucas will be missed by many.
