JorJeana Annette Gross

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of JorJeana Annette Gross-age 56 of Mascot, formerly Maynardville, on Friday, March 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 25, 1968, JorJeana was a member of Horace Maynard High School Class of 1986 who has shown their love and support throughout her illness and passing. She went on to become the first member of her family to attend the University of Tennessee, where she graduated in 1991.

JorJeana was a beloved friend, sister, aunt, and member of her community, known for her
unwavering faith, kind heart, and vibrant spirit. Throughout her life, she embodied determination,
kindness, and a commitment to excellence. She was a true friend to all who knew her. JorJeana
enjoyed the simple things in life: porch time with her friends, playing with all her nephews,
shopping for antiques, and cooking for any occasion. She especially loved cheering for the UT
Vols and held a special affection for Peyton Manning.

A faithful member of New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, JorJeana was an integral part of
her church family. Her faith and love for others were evident in everything she did, and she
brought joy and comfort to all who knew her. JorJeana's deep connection to her community and
her willingness to give of herself selflessly left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate to
cross her path.

One of JorJeana's most cherished gifts was her talent for writing, and while studying creative
writing in college, she penned this poem. We feel privileged to share a portion of it here:
"You show me
That part of myself
I never knew existed
Before you looked inside.
Every day the love grows...
I learn to love you more.
That second opened up,
I entered with conviction
Through a door leading to forever
I know this love in you."

Preceded in death by parents, Estill and Patsy Gross, JorJeana's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, sisters, Veronica (Mark) Summers and Tara (Michael) Chandler all of Mascot, brother, Hugh Gross of Maynardville, nephews, Jacob (Briana) Chandler, Isaac
