Jewell “Gay” Asbury Mincey-age 89 of Knoxville was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world to live in her heavenly home Saturday, January 20, 2024. Preceded in death by husband, Billy Howard Mincey; son, Jerry Mincey; son-in-law, James Hembree; grandson, Christopher Hembree.
Jewell is survived by her brother, James (Zubie) Asbury; daughters, Sharon Hembree and Tracy (Danny) Evans. Daughter-in-law, Sandy Mincey; grandchildren, Ashley (Mark) Ellis, Stephine Hembree, Justin (Casey) Cheek, Rachel Thacker, Zachary (Alysson) Hembree. Great-grandchildren, Caeden Hembree, Vivi Hembree, Lucian Hembree, Hadlee Thacker and Elizabeth Thacker. Many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews from Tennessee, Texas, Ohio and Georgia.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. Friday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Jeff McMurray officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Monroe Cemetery, Maynardville. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery 10:45 a.m. Saturday. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
