James E. Hurst-age 89 of Maynardville, born May 24, 1934, passed away Monday morning, June 12, 2023, at his home. He was a retired employee of Plasti-Line and a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, class of 1953. Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Zola (Cook) Hurst; wife of 61 years, Mary Nell (Smith) Hurst; son, Stephen Hurst; sisters, Sue Epperson, Marie McBee; brother, Paul Hurst.

Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Vera and Allen Collins, Maynardville; grandchildren, Sarah Craze and husband Daniel of Oliver Springs, Matthew Collins, Maynardville; great-grandchildren, Jackson Houston, Chloe Craze; nephews, Lester Hurst, Larry Hurst; niece, Jennie Walker along with several other family members and a host of friends.

Mr. Hurst may be viewed and register book signed after 9 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Graveside service 2 PM Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville, Rev. Francis Hamilton officiating. Friends can meet at the cemetery at 1:45 PM Wednesday.
