Ida Mae Monroe

Ida Mae (Mabe) Monroe-age 94 of Maynardville, formerly of Lone Mountain, Tennessee passed away peacefully Monday, March 10, 2025 at her home after a lengthy illness. She lived a long life and could tell you all the hardships she endured growing up; She was a wealth of knowledge of the “old days” and events that happened during her lifetime. Ida was a member of Lone Mountain Baptist Church and worked at Signal Knitting Mills until she retired, Ida loved her garden and rose bushes. She loved to crochet, leaving all of us with blankets and throws to remember her by. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husbands, John Ralph Essary of Claiborne County and Verlie Hugh Monroe of Maynardville. Parents, William Mabe and Susie Bullard Mabe of Lone Mountain, Tennessee; brother, WWII Veteran, Clarence Reed of Lone Mountain, Tennessee; sisters, Leva Reed (Dewey) Collins of Monroe, Michigan; Mrs. Edith (Nick) Salva of Monroe, Michigan; Annette Mabe (Tommy) Dye of Monroe, Michigan; Odoska (Odel) Hurst of Pontiac, Michigan; son-in-law, Anthony Anderson of Maynardville.

She is survived by daughters, Dorothy Essary, Barbara (Ralph) Williams; son, Lonnie Brown Monroe; daughters, Joyce (Anthony-deceased) Anderson, Bertha Monroe Painter, all of Maynardville; Marilyn (Daniel) Bell of White Pine, Tennessee. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Brandi Williams (Brad) Davis of New Tazewell, Tennessee; Gordon Paul Williams, Christopher Anderson, Jessica Montoya, Brent Painter, all of Maynardville; Joshua Wiley of Nashville, Ashley Laney of White Pine, Tennessee along with 11 Great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Luis Pannocchia with Heartland Medical and Amedisys Home Healthcare employees, Brad, Jennifer, Leslie and Matt.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Thursday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. James E. Whitson officiating. Music by Beulah Moore and Freddie Simmons. Interment 11 a.m. Friday, Jackson Cemetery, Lone Mountain (Claiborne County) Tennessee. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home 9:45 a.m. Friday to go with the funeral procession. Pallbearers, Brad Davis, Daniel Bell, Phillip Montoya, Roger Graves, Greg Monroe, Ron Gregg.
