Glen Edward Ramey
Glen E. Ramey-age 76 of Luttrell, formerly of Harlan, Kentucky passed away peacefully Friday, May 1, 2020 at his home after a long battle with COPD. Glen is a veteran in which he served a total of 27 years, in which he earned several medals. He served in the U. S. Army as a SP4E4(T) 1961 through 1969, during Vietnam. He later served in the U. S. Air Force as SMSGNT 1971 through 1990. Then he retired and started his career at American Home Oxygen Company where he spent 14 years as an employee. Glen took great pride in his time spent in the services and loved telling his stories. Glen also loved to go fishing and spending time with his family. Glen was a very loving and kindhearted man who will be missed by his family and friends. He was a member of Fellowship Christian Church, Plainview, Tennessee.
Glen was preceded in death by former wife and the mother of his children, Cherry Ramey. Parents, Julian and Cynthia Ramey, maternal grandparents, Mattie and Bivin Childers; paternal grandparents, Felix and Mary Ramey; nephew, Terry Walker and niece, Vicky Ross.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Judy Ramey; brother, Tab (Peggy) Ramey; sisters, Dee (Jim) Stellard of Kentucky; Verta Seitz of Florida; Wanda Ramey and Mary Cantrell of Kentucky. Daughter, Valerie (David) Gifford of Chattanooga; son, Thomas (Celeste) Ramey of Arizona. Step-children that he loved as his own: Melinda Taylor of Corryton; Bo (Cindy) Anderson of Corryton; Brian (Renea) Anderson of Maynardville. Grandchildren, Jessica (Sean) Rhodes of Oregon; David Ramey of Chattanooga; Derek Washam, Leah Taylor, Brooke (Joseph) Ogan of Rutledge; Tyler Anderson and Elizabeth Anderson. Great-grandchildren, Avonlea and Henley Washam, Trynden Taylor, Gemma Ogan, Kyuss Rhodes, Nathaniel and Jacob Jenkins along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The body will lie in state for viewing 2-5 P.M. Sunday, May 3, 2020 in the chapel of Cooke-Campbell Mortuary. Military rites will be conducted 2 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2020 at Pleasant View Cemetery presented by the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard and the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Graveside service will follow conducted by Rev. James Russell, Rev. Johnny Smith with music by Brenda Beeler, James Russell and Ray Bull. Pallbearers: Tyler Anderson, Joseph Ogan, Jay Muncey, Jimmy Spears, Archie Wilson, Bobby Capps. Honorary Pallbearers: David Ramey, Trynden Taylor, Avonlea and Henley Washam, Gemma Ogan, Kyuss Rhodes, Brian Anderson and Bo Anderson. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
