Fern Tharp

Elsie Fern (Needham) Tharp-age 89 of Luttrell gained her Heavenly Wings Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at her home. Fern was Godly woman and now she has her reward. She was a member of Mt. Eager Baptist Church. Fern is preceded in death by her husband, Harley Lloyd Tharp; daughter, Kimberly Tharp; parents, Basil and Mossie (Boles) Needham; brothers, Boyd, Gene, Billy and Duane Needham; sisters, Stellmo McCormick, Jackie, Rita and Betty Needham.
Survivors: sons, Burl (Kristi) Tharp; Steve (Christine) Tharp; Harley Lee Tharp; daughters, Debbie (Albert) Lay, Kathy (Mike) Miller; grandchildren. Kristi Mixon, Skyler Miller, Tabatha and Brittney Miller, Lisa Sweet, Teresa Sullender, Donnie and Danny Lay, Lindsey Hickman, Adam Tharp, Shauna Shelton, Neal and Carter Lawson.
We would like to give a very special thanks to her daughter-in-law, Kristi Tharp for taking special care of her and caring for Fern in a way that was very appreciated. Fern really loved you like a daughter. And a special thank you to her granddaughter, Shauna (Tharp) Shelton for being Mamaw Fern’s best friend and taking care of her for many years. Special thanks to Dr. DeBusk at Heartland Medical and all of the nurses and physical therapists from Home Health and Amedisys Hospice that cared for Fern.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Thursday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Bob Zavattieri, Rev. Fred Goodson officiating with music by Rev. Richard and Linda Nicley. Interment 11 a.m. Friday, Baker Cemetery, Luttrell. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to go with the funeral procession. Pallbearers: Scott Mixon, Adam Tharp, Jeff Atkins, Randy Williams, Jody Muncey, Mitch Dugger, Matthew Shelton, Tim Atkins. Honorary Pallbearers: Neal Lawson, Carter Lawson.
