Dwane Dyke
Dwane “Dad” Dyke, born on May 6, 1932, in Sharps Chapel, TN, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, in Knoxville, TN. Dwane was a dedicated family man who cherished the memories he created with his five generations of children and grandchildren. From a young age, Dwane exemplified a strong work ethic. Inspired by the arrival of electricity in his home at the age of 17, he pursued a career as an electrician, dedicating 25 years to Knox Porcelain and another 10years at the University of Tennessee. After retiring, he embraced a fulfilling life of taking road trips with his wife, caring for his home, and of course, teaching all of the children how to drive his old blue truck. Dwane met his beloved wife Coba in elementary school in Sharps Chapel. They married on August 3, 1949, and spent 73 wonderful years together, exemplifying the true meaning of partnership and love. Dwane will be remembered for his hardworking nature, humility, and gratitude, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his family. The family extends special thanks to UT Hospital, who provided exceptional care and support. Dwane is preceded in death and now reunited with his loving wife, Coba, his parents Henry and Vesta Ellison Dyke; his brothers and sister, Swan, Taylor, Ailor, Fate, Coy, Eleanor, and infant daughter Deborah Lynn.
He is survived by his sons, Gordon (Linda) and Dwight (Missy), as well as his cherished granddaughter Crystal Shontae (Mike) Trump, grandsons Shane and Clint, and great-grandchildren Aubrey (Thomas) Skelton, Kelly (Andrew) Crenshaw, and great-great-granddaughter Catherine Skelton. Dwane is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Myrel Dyke and Hilda Wade Cox, brother-in-law Jack Wright, and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M., officiated by Rev. Toby Dykes and Rev. Gordon Dykes, music by Linda Dykes and Katie Dykes. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 9, 2024 at Cox Cemetery in Sharps Chapel. Pallbearers will be, Curtis Dykes, Leonard Dyke, Randy Dykes, Mike Dykes, Trevor Dykes, and Mike Trump, honorary pallbearer, Clint Dykes. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 A.M. on Monday at the funeral home to go with the funeral procession. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary.
