Charlie Lloyd Railey
Charlie Lloyd Railey, 76, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13th, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents, Alphonzo and Mary Lou Railey, sister and brother-in-law Melba and Henry Kidwell and brother Lee Edward Railey (who died shortly after birth).
He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Sherry Railey, doting daughter and son-in-law Sonya and Barry Corum, cherished grandson Ethan Corum and girlfriend Caroline Lay, beloved Boston Terrier and best friend Brantley. He also leaves behind a special mother-in-law Marjorie Myers, sister-in-law and husband Kay and Perry Whitt, nieces and husbands Kay and Mitchell Kitts, Missy and Brian Phillips, great nephews Aaron Kitts, Justin Phillips and wife Tiffany, special neighbor and lifelong friend Sammy Muncey, special friend Johnny Merritt whom he loved like a brother and many other loved relatives and friends. Lloyd (as he was most widely known) was a lifelong resident of Luttrell, TN, serving that community selflessly in his final years as a City Councilmen working to ensure a better community for all his neighbors. A Vietnam veteran, Lloyd co-founded Railey Heating & Air with his father, Fonnie, in 1970 and spent the next 48 years working in the worst of weathers to bring comfort to countless customers throughout East Tennessee. With his ever-present smile and quick humor, Lloyd was widely loved by all those who knew him. A member of Mountain View Church of God, Lloyd loved the Lord and his church family. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 17th, at the Mountain View Church of God in Luttrell, TN. Funeral service to follow receiving of friends and to be officiated by Rev. Lebrandon Marie and Rev. Paul Hughes. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 pm Thursday, April 18 at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville to go in procession, to Pleasant View Cemetery, Maynardville, for a 3:00 PM military graveside service. Pallbearers: Barry Corum, Ethan Corum, Aaron Kitts, Justin Phillips, Eddie Adams and Ricky Merritt. Honorary pallbearers are Sammy Muncey, David Arroyo and David Williams. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
