Women's Spring Backpacking Workshop at Norris Dam State Park

Join Ranger Holly Frerichs for an overnight experience in the backcountry April 12-13. This is a beginner-friendly workshop for women where we will learn best practices for overnight camping and some survival tactics. The hike to the campsite is four moderate miles in and the same route back out. This workshop is open to women and girls 15 and older. Minors must have an adult or guardian present on the trip.

We will meet at 1 p.m. to check off the gear list and pack up everyone's bags, then hit the trail.

Cost is $65, and if needed you can rent gear from the park for an extra $20 charge. Please choose the appropriate option when registering, and email Ranger Holly Frerichs (holly.frerichs@tn.gov) with what gear you need. Gear available to rent from the park is the following: backpacks, tents (1 and 2 person), sleeping bags, and sleeping pads. Cooking gear is provided with registration.

A recommended gear list and meeting location will be sent to you once you register. Keep in mind that the weather can be unpredictable, so pack appropriately!

Dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday is provided. Snacks and water will also be available for the trip.

Email Ranger Holly Frerichs at holly.frerichs@tn.gov with any questions or tips.
